Looking at getting these for the SV but the three places I've called for quotes all said it's too much tyre for the bike.
Thoughts?

They're rubbish, get bt023's, angel St or pilot road 3.

I'm not really after the touring tyre so much as its a weekend dry weather use bike..

Decent sport touring tyres will still give you all you need even as a dry weather w/e bike. No point in using super sticky rubber on a bike like the SV on the road. You won't get them warm enough to work effectively unless you ride like you are on the track - in which case you should get on the track.

They are not even remotely "rubbish", why do you suggest they are?

I agree,
i had them for about 8k on both and use my bike day in day out!
used in snow, rain, ice & sun and never had an issue.
When job changed and had to use motorway more, they still took ages to square off!
Even happy enough that i replaced them with 2ct again!
so unless you have used them, don't comment on if they are "rubbish"

I've had them on 2 bikes now (not by choice) first was a zx6 and they lasted araround 2k and never gave me any confidence, so I changed them for bt023's and they never slipped not even in the wet awesome tyres (my mate has them on a zx10 and will never change) then I had them on a ruinous, they did fair slightly better but were still non inspiring almost like wooden tyres, so now I will never touch them again will only ever get sports touring tyres, they give more grip than my performance can dish out and give double/triple the mileage easily.
On the SC I think you'd be.a.fool to waste your money on a sports Tyre when a sports touring Tyre will do a better job.

As stated (albeit after your post) I've had them and my personal experience.is there are better tyres for the money, maybe I pushed them harder than you? And I use my bike 6 days a week in all weather, admittably never had them on an sv but on much more powerful bikes with the suspension set up professionally and I still didn't like them.

Its your bike, put what tyres on it you want. If the garage or tyre place doesnt want to sell you what you want, find one that will.
I've had a couple of sets on my GSXR, I like them, they are a bit lacking in feel when they are cold or its raining, but give them some warm up time on a warm sunny weekend and they work fine.
Tyres are such a personal choice, what I like you might not, the only way you'll know is to try them. TBH there is no such thing as a "bad" modern tyre, its just a matter of finding one that suits your wallet and preferred riding style.

I wasn't a fan of the pilot roads but seen people plenty happy with both the pilot roads and the pilot powers (and pilot pures?)
Avon for me.
