I'm heading back to Chiang Mai before Christmas and the last two times have flown Thai Airways. Good leg room but no in flight entertainment, food average.

Just wondered what the alternatives are like. Eva go direct to BKK, Emirates via a stop in Dubai.

Anyone got experience of these airlines or others on the London to Bangkok route?

I think i may have misinterpreted the title of this thread

Sorry, i am no use in regards to flying that direction! Hopefully someone more mature and helpful will be along soon :-dd

For once I actually put up a sensible post and someone still manages to turn it into smut!

I usually fly Qatar via Doha when the wife and I go back to see her family. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I flew Eva to Bangkok last easter. I thought they were pretty good. Flight home was already pretty full from Taiwan but most of the Taiwanese are small so got plenty of room :) Plane was decent, lots of films/games etc and food was good

I have just got home yesterday, i flew with sri lanka airlines. The food was pretty good. Entertainment was ok, fine on the way out but a bit poor coming home. But they were 1 of the cheapest, had to stop over in colombo for about 3hours each way though.

I have always flown Thai when going to Thailand, I am never the one paying for the flight though, so no idea on costings. My favorite airline would be Quantas, surely they have something going that way.

This is a copy and paste of my mates response.
"i always fly emirates cos ive got air miles, theres never any delays and its a really good service. they all stop in dubai and u dont see your luggage til u get to bangkok. Theyre not the cheapest tho, turkish airlines is, but i dont think youd get as brilliant in flight entertainment with them! U can get non stop flights from london which are significantly cheaper, but then youve got to faff around getting to london! Why, u fancying a trip there?x"

Hope that helps.

I used Quantas last time via Bangkok to Australia. Very happy with them, even upgraded my family (2 adults and 2 kids) to business class on the way home :-) so as you can imagine I was pretty please with that.
