Time to kick off the season with a new idea for the summer
The rules are simple:
- Find your road that is your guilty pleasure and post it!!
To start the ball rolling here's mine
Heddon > Military Road (Albemarle Barracks) > Whittle Dene Water > Stamfordham > Otterburn military road (A696)
http://g.co/maps/b989c
Its only around 13 miles but Whittle Dene to the A696 is all 1st and 2nd gear corners, narrow and road conditions depend upon the farm season. Today it was covered in farm crap and slower going.
So whats yours???

That area has most of my favourite local roads too.

Yep
Could (and can) play around there for hours and use most a tank of fuel

Like the road that is on the left after you go through most of morpeth, cant even remember where it goes now, past the rugby club then into the sticks. Also there's an amazing rothbury ponteland loop i do. Shame i'm not getting on with my hornet to get excited about going out much at the moment.

Nah its further round, go through the town centre then right at the clock, up the road a bit through 2 sets of lights and hang a left past the rugby club, goes towards the dykenuek pub, canny road.

Each to their own and all that. I don't like that road at all from C to B. You cannot see round many of the corners due to the hedges, so have to slow right down for them or just risk it. Like this http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=55.028427,-1.888853&spn=0.001053,0.00284&t=h&z=19&layer=c&cbll=55.028427,-1.888853&panoid=sIpRFa-S3rfMB5QFYI9qhg&cbp=12,265.74,,0,9.18
Think you need to know where all the farm gates are ready for the tractors and mud.

The B4390 from New Mills to Berriew. Just 5 miles but a lovely ride.

The run to hartside is always amazing as well, especially if you take one of the more scenic routes to it.

Used to do this run at least twice a month when I lived in Wales.
A good mix of open straight roads, tight and twisty sections and goes from being on a mountain top to being deep in a forest to the sea-side
Long route (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Unknown+road&daddr=Prince's+Ave%2FA482&hl=en&sll=51.751982,-3.392673&sspn=0.019208,0.038409&geocode=FRekFQMd_DHM_w%3BFZ4tHQMdAhK__w&mra=dme&mrsp=0&sz=15&t=m&z=15)
Then there was my route for pure unadulterated knee downing
Newport SDR (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=A48&daddr=51.5749095,-2.9829834+to:Ringland+Way%2FA48+to:51.5767359,-2.976129+to:Unknown+road&hl=en&ll=51.575629,-2.988195&spn=0.038566,0.076818&sll=51.576536,-2.96545&sspn=0.077131,0.153637&geocode=FR7cEgMd9OLR_w%3BFX34EgMduXvS_ylZ291TvOZxS DGxv0THI4sNEw%3BFd5REwMdAFrT_w%3BFZ__EgMdf5bS_ynZf 4yxluZxSDHGpQTyn62rzA%3BFYLbEgMdvuPR_w&mra=dpe&mrsp=1&sz=13&via=1,3&t=m&z=14)
There are nine roundabouts within this 6.35 mile route and two places for legitimate left knee down, which is tough to find on British roads.
But, at 12.7 miles for a "circuit" can spend ages on there with a full tank.
this loop takes in a lot of my favourite roads, especially the part threw the Ettrick Forest:

This is a great little route from Silverstone to Twyford wharf.
http://www.bestbikingroads.com/motorcycle-roads/motorbike-rides-in-united-kingdom-/east-midlands-/silverstone--twyford-_1d3a400.html
Stokeley to Helmsley to Kirkbymoorside to the Lion Pub on Blakey Ridge and home through Guisborough.
Home to Whitby to Malton to Beverley(my fav road), over the Humber Bridge then the back roads to Cadwell.

Little old me is kind of smitten with a small local road with in Weston Super Mare (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Sainburys+Weston+Super+Mare&daddr=51.36563,-2.95525+to:Birnbeck+Pier&hl=en&ll=51.358812,-2.952232&spn=0.068389,0.110378&sll=51.355703,-2.946053&sspn=0.068393,0.110378&geocode=FcS6DwMdsJXT_yEREjQJ8g0Rjg%3BFf7GDwMdDujS_ ynXmDYMEflxSDGwGxRJuj8n6A%3BFbuBDwMdsHDS_yEmUCvTfp rlVw&mra=ls&via=1&t=h&z=13). It may double the length of my ride home from work, but the fun value of it is worth the extra petrol.
However this road is often the scene of nasty accidents and has a speed limit of 25MPH... Which I obviously stick too. :smt077

This has something to do with car Drivers falling off the cliffs on the edge of the road and into the Bristol Channel. Serves 'em right if you ask me! A careful rider can hit seventy or more along there if they wanted to do so, obviously only if the road was closed for an event, say road racing and not just for some death metal loving biker chick, rocking along listening to Slayer...
