Hi all

Thanks to one of the forum members I now have the dimensions of the woodruff key for 4 degree of timing advance.

I am currently negotiating the price with a couple of engineering companies to make a small quantity of keys.

ON the basis of the best quote i have sofar I think I can offer the following

Single key £14
Single key with puller £17

2 Keys £25
2 Keys with puller £28

All plus a couple quid postage.

So is anyone interested in a 4 degree advance key, if so post below so I can get a feel for numbers.

What do these do?

better throttle response

For curvys right?

Dont see why it wouldnt work on a pointy

The 4 degree of advance brings the ignition timing closer to the ideal for the fuel we use in the UK, the higher the RON the slower the burn, engines are timed for a wide range of fuel including very poor low RON fuels which we don't find in the UK.

So 4 degree's of advance should give better low end throttle response and better low end torque, ideal for road riding and overtaking without changing down the box.

This key will fit SV650 all models, SV1000, DR650 and DR1000 and is a simple job to complete.

How would you fit, or how much is it likely to cost to get fitted? Thanks

Is this theoretical or does it really work?

Theoretical.

Personally I think you are all wasting your money on this.
Why move rotor when you can move stator for free?

Even with slotted holes 5 degress either side on mine I can feel no difference with it, it does lose a bit of power retarded but no gain with advance.

I thought you could only go so far with the stator pickup about 2.5 degrees

Pretty much. For testing it I sacrificed a cover and basically bodged it for the other 2.5 thinking I would get an offset key if it made any difference. It didn't but I didn't get any dyno data at the time.

works on a carby, injected self adjusts so makes no difference

How does it self adjust? I can't see that. No knock sensor and it can't get crank position info any other way.

not 100% sure just know you can advance or retard the ignition moving the pickup by quite alot and makes no difference to the output, guess it compares the crank with the cam sensor, had a gsr600 with the cam timing out, ecu wouldnt let it rev cos of the difference between the two

Hi all

OK i'm having a small batch of 15 keys made initially, cost will be as advised.

This does work on the Carby model, I'm having my SV on the dyno for a set of base figures this weekend and then once I get the advance key we will see where we are.

There is more information on the 4 degree advance, just search the overseas forums.

I see lots of people have opinions without the use of a Dyno but just there **** on the seat, hmmmmmm I know what I believe.

Anyway I will advise as soon as they become available.

For those unsure of what this can do take a look at the website link there is some nice info on here about what the advance key helped with.

Look at the bottom end torque after the key was fitted :0) :0)

Anyway I will advise when I have some to offer.
