ok no I am not gay or wanting to appear to be a police man
I fancy spraying the candy red VFR white?
it has a couple of scratches to the panniers and if I am having them resprayed red why not go whole hog and spray whole bike white with black bits like the "proper real one"... (professionally)
Always wanted a white one as you know ..
but
will it look crap.
will it depreciate the value or affect selling on. ? (planning on keeping it til I too fat to ride anyway )
ta for comments.. funny or otherwise.. Iknow I have opened myself up for ridicule and jest here...:D

Why dont you sell it a buy a white one, it'll be a lot less hassle IMHO.
I'm always wary of bikes that have been repainted, it makes me wonder what they are hiding / why its been repainted.

The only redeaming feature of getting your bike painted, would be that you could specify a shade of white that only your bike has, so you go metallic, or pearlescent effect in the paint, so it would be unique on that front.
But then theres the ball ache of getting it touched up if you scratch it or it gets damaged in an accident and then needs repainting again.

For a Daytona 955i it's Yellow every year! Like a red Ferrari. Timeless.

You may even find your insurers wont touch ( up? ) it if it's a non-standard colour.

On a serious note, my cousin had a Celebration Edition Bandit which was the Suzuki blue and white, but it had more than the usual amount white (white belly pan, white tail section, white front mudguard, white wheels). He was in the RAF so I babysat the bike whilst he was on tour, it was a complete barsteward to keep clean. One ride on damp roads and it was covered.

To have it sprayed professionally would be very expensive, so keep the red and buy a white one for those days you feel like being a tart!:p
rather than painting it, get it vinyl wrapped

Buy some S/H bodywork and paint that instead? Keep your originals so the bike can be put back to standard if you want to out it.
You wouldn't need to buy perfect ones - if you're going to paint them they'll need a prep and tidy up anyway.

+1, I was going to suggest similar
I read in one of the mags that they bought Chinese copies of CBR600 bodywork. The quality of the stuff was fine and surprisingly it fitted very well.
The were able to specify the colour as well, so if you opted for the white colour scheme, it would save having to get it sprayed.
For the whole CBR bodywork was about £400.
This'll also save the original bodywork for when you come to sell it, and you could sell this bodywork on.
I'll dig out the mag, as it was an Ebay seller who sold this stuff, perhaps they do VFR bodywork?

Matte white is as sexy as it gets. I came very close to painting my VFR white but I decided it wasn't worth the cleaning.

I painted a blue bike yellow once, never regreted it for a moment.
If you fancy a white one then do it.
IMHO would be classy on a VFR.

bike in red with two white lids looks good but a white bike would suit you Quiff, however, with your OCD won't it drive you bananas? Every little speck and squished fly that's been baked on, you'll go into overdrive :D

It might work though - people expect white to look grubby so it always looks cleaner than it actually is.

most painters will tell you that painting over red with a light colour is the hardest to do because red is the hardest/strongest colour to cover up,but apart from that go for it
