View Full Version : My Curvy 650SY - Then and now
Hi all,
New to the forum and to an SV.
Brought my SV for a reasonable price last week. Service wise it had been looked after well, but body wise it was a terrible mess :o.
So I changed the colour and cleaned everything up.
As it was delivered:

Liking the lowers, SV looks to suit being completely faired like that (even though I like 'em naked). Think you've gone overboard on the sticker front though but personal taste and all that. Can't see anyone stuck for figuring out what model bike it is now that's for sure
How much did the swap cost ya in total (minus the cost of the gazillion stickers :-P )

Well, I like it.
like the colour..wow thats pretty fast work in a week.. did you consider getting the frame done in black too?
Is it a suzuki?
;)
Is it just the light or did you paint the brake discs?

First off, Welcome the forum!
Now bike stuffs...
At first glance I thought you'd just sprayed the plastics but you've gone the whole 9 on that!
Looks good (for a curvy) although it does look like you've over sprayed and done the braking surface of the disc. Unwise, get it wire wooled off ASAP.
Well, I like it.
Cheers, as do I! :smt041

Which is of course the main and most important thing :D

I thought about it, but the frame would have ideally needed powdercoating - bit beyound me. The silver frame does stand out - I'll have to live with it for now and have it painted at a later date if I can't get on with it.
Cheers

Yes, everything came off, was GRP repaired, primed and painted (not forgetting the stickers.....)
There is overspray on the discs, but they are being changed in the morning as they are worn and a little scored, as will the pads.

My pointy's been written off and its the best thing that's happened to it, because with the insurance money I can buy the curvy I always desired.
Nice one, the OP can help you with paint :smt082

Just checked the pic and feck thats not over-spray you've sprayed your discs!
I like the work youve done but as others have said the sticker are a tad much

As i stated I've now replaced the discs, that was always the plan so I didn't bother masking them up.
Glad you like it, I like the stickers and out of 40+ fellow riders I met at my local pub no one commented on 'too many stickers' even after I asked for honest opinions.
Each to their own ay...

Don't worry about it mate. I spent ages on my bike and have had a few folk tell me it's ****ing horrible. It's tough to hear at first without getting a bit defensive but it doesn't bother me now.
The way I see it, all the bike manufacturers spend a fortune on R&D and can't come up with a bike that everybody likes. You're a bloke in your yard with a socket set so what chance have you got? :D

Fair, was considering doing it myself when I get my SV (either white or red). Looks pretty decent in the picture, how does that compare to real life? And can I be a complete retard and ask how you did it? Coats etc
Cheers!

Bennetts,
Only allow you 3 mods, 1 sticker counts as a mod. so your fudged on the the sitcker mod.
Great turn around time on it, deffinatly made it your own. How easy/hard is the twin can set up to do?
