View Full Version : Holidaying in Morroco- Any tips/advise/ideas?
Myself and my soon to be Wife are honeymooning in Morroco. Marrakech and Fez to be precise.
I'm after any must see places or activities we should do whilst we're over there.
I have never been to Africa and don't even know what the currency is yet!
We're off at the beginning of May.
Thanking you kindly.

Have a look on www.horizonsunlimited.com (http://www.horizonsunlimited.com) and click on the HUBB (on left of homepage).
It's the Horizons Unlimited bulletin board and there's a Morrocco section if you scroll down to "regional forums". It's a motorcycle travel website but it's full of interesting stuff.
www.UKGser.com (http://www.UKGser.com) also have a Morrocco knowledge base, very informative it is too.
Congratulations BTW.

We were in Marrakesh last September.
The wife loved the souks (Markets, absolutely enormous) She went back there several times. Use hotel facilities first, you don't want to use a public one)
Worth a trip into the Atlas mountains
The currency is closed, you can only get it there. Exchange your pound notes for Moroccan funny money at the airport sufficient to last your holiday when you land. Then top up at the hotel etc should you need bits. You are not allowed to take it out and it is worthless if you do. so only get what you need to spend.
Don't pick up any strange lesbian dwafs with suit case full of Frogs, And Don't buy any !
Excellent tips. Thanks. Apart from Richie's which has ********ed up the whole trip for me :(
In the Souks (markets) you are expected to bargain - and bargain hard! They are insulted if you don't. On the other hand, some traders can be annoyingly persistent so you have to be pretty firm. You will find a lot of children begging - we found it was better and reall appreciated to give little gifts instead of money. They love pens and pencils, so you may want to take some with you.
You will be pestered by dozens of people who want to be your guide. Although this can seem like a good idea, chose one recommended by your hotel, then you are more likely to see the good things and less likely to get ripped off.
And you just have to find a kasbar for a meal - just so you can Rock It!
