...me a 6 gig laptop, preferably under £350. Son's looking for one, and he prefers laptops to notebooks/netbooks.
Spied this one; http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/hp-pavilion-g6-1389ea-15-6-laptop-blue-11884719-pdt.html?intcmpid=display~RR~~11884719
Thoughts from the geeky ones please.

A little bit more , but has a bigger drive , and I find Acer`s are quite good on battery life , I notice the HP doesn`t mention that ... although it does say it`s a 6 cell Li-On
Just rummaged a bit more and there is a claimed 5 hour unplugged battery life , but that will be tested with everything off . I turned a lot of my features off and didn`t notice much difference in the look and operation , battery life went up a tad .

Yeah, have to agree a 500MB drive is not a lot these days. My dell had space for a second drive so stuck a second 500mb in the empty slot. And I still have to have a 2TB drive on the eSATA.
Battery life whilst important to many, is not high up my list so long as it lasts to move from study/lounge, the same with portability.
So my order of priorites to be addressed in looking for laptops
CPU speed, dual core, quad core?
memory, speed, type, amount, expansion capability?
Disc, number of, interface sata ii, sata iii, 5400rpm, 7200 rpm, eSATA.
screen size, resolution. min 1920x1200.
Network must have N wifi, 1GB Ethernet.
15 pin and HDMI graphic outputs.
Then expansion, must have smart card reader, express card, multi format memory card reader, USB3 etc.
Then battery /charger etc.

The Acer has a HDMI output if he wants to put films on a bigger screen which is something that caught my attention , the HP doesn`t .

Hmm, thanks for the input so far. The HDMI on the Acer is a bonus, he does download films and plays 'em back on a bigger screen.
Problem is he's just had an Acer thats gone t1ts up after less than 3 years so am wary of getting another :(

Tim this second drive you speak of? as i have a packard bell desktop and only about 140 gig of space left, there is an empty slot under the dvd drive, does it go in there, or inside the computer?
