steettriple,id give it 1000miles before its got a conrod sticking out of the crankcase,
looks more like a stuntbike with nobblys,
and the engine is most likely made in the far east in one of triumphs other factories

You, my dear sir are such a ray of sunshine. :rolleyes:this may be true but i speak as i find, and there is only truth in what i have said, and the street triple is a work of art as far as naked bikes go,BUT after hearing of one throwing a rod i did a google search and its far from a isolated case,id go as far as saying they blow up more often then a well used sv

Mine didnt go bang, and I have not heard of many that have. However going by google you will find a bike of every make/model has gone bad in some way, shape or form. Especially when treating it like in the above video.
Still good $hit tho.

if you look on the triumph daytona and 675 forums once you look on the right search you will find more engine problems then are found on other new machines, conrod failure, shells turning/spinning, gudgeon pins breaking.low oil pressure, some on low milage bikes, some repaired out of warranty, some bikes with 20 or 30k,im not saying every daytona or street will blow up,but once you see what does go wrong would you put you money on a daytona doing 100k,and if triumph got it right first time then why do they sell racing parts for the engine ie up rated oil pumps and up rated shells!
Good video. Cool looking bike. I'd like to see an SV with nobly tires being ridden like that. :-)

"id give it 1000miles before its got a conrod sticking out of the crankcase" Really does sound like your saying not every 675 will blow up.
But what about quote "the engine is most likely made in the far east in one of triumphs other factories", how do you come about this?
I've never heard of the issues about, but then again I haven't tried looking for them.

triumph like many other companys have factories abroard, they have 3 factories in Chonburi, Thailand.and so like other companies they do so import parts and whole engines, although they dont shout about it

Right.......So its just parts and whole engines is it? Oh and just they have factories in Asia but parts are sourced worldwide, just so you know. Oh and its just the 865 Bonneville engines that are Thai made.

Don't believe everything you read on a forum, afterall a SV can beat a Lambourghini according to here :smt040
Oh and Ampz there is a British Dirtbike..... http://www.ccm-motorcycles.net/ :D Altho most of their models are chinese imports rebranded now.
And its about half a mile if that from me now!

Don't believe everything you read on a forum, afterall a SV can beat a Lambourghini according to here :smt040no i dont believe every thing i read but i think youl find that triumph do make and import from there own factories, especailly since they are or were struggling to keep up with demand

and when reading on a triumph forum and some poor barst**d has his 675 in for the 3rd engine rebuild under warranty for yet another crank, shell rods etc it does make you wonder,or atleast he is,and with the www any problems that may have took years to be known about can now be reported in seconds along with numerous amount of(i know ill say it before you do)bulsh*t
I do believe I haven't put any warranty claims in for any of the issue's you've mentioned, so maybe they are more isolated that you think.

I do believe I haven't put any warranty claims in for any of the issue's you've mentioned, so maybe they are more isolated that you think.as i said with the www any issues can be on line in minutes for all to see,and i have no idea if its 1 in a 1000,or 1 in 100,or wether like the c*ck up yamaha made with there xs750(that was a triple as well)about 1977, and they suffered from to small oilways or some such related thing, and the only certain thing you could say was that oneday it would knock the bigends out from lack of oil, apart from this small problem and a few gearbox issues it was a dam good bike,so who knows how deep the problems goes with the 675 engine, but apparently triumph did alter the volume of oil the engine hold by 1/2 liter, wether this is related or not!

Triumph engines go bang more often than do equivalent motorcycles from other major manufacturers.
This isn't merely bad tempered Triumph bashing, and it wouldn't put me off buying one, but it's unquestionably true, and the number of Triumph engines I've replaced myself tells me it's true.

PS.
I'd like to see an SV with nobly tires being ridden like that. :smile:There was a Curvy SV in, I think, Italy that had had longer forks and knobblies fitted, and there's at least one SV650 flat tracker being raced in the States.

I watch a brand new R1 go bang at Almeria last year, the guy was most upset.
It happens to all from time to time.
