Engine case protectors?

Any one used either r&g or gb racing case covers?

I'm in minitwins this year and hadn't seen anyone run any or seen any threads on here. I'm after a review and opinions? Are there any negatives to them?( other than the £120 price!)

Does any one else make them (cheaper)?

Saw the GB ones pop up on eBay the other day look really smart!!!

The GBR ones are just out so far as I know, and I don't think the R&G ones have been around that long either. Rumour has it - i.e. I've seen it on a post here someplace - that it's pretty hard work to get the cases down on an SV, especially if it's got crash bungs fitted.

I'd been looking for a set myself but on the other hand, minitwins have been going for years with plenty of crashes and this forum ain't exactly full of "Oh crap, I've holed the casing" posts. Still, I'm sure it has happened (cue dozens of posts saying it happened to them....), so if you fancy 'em/have the cash, they do look pretty :cool:

It would need to be an epic off to hole the cases.
I've tested the crashability of SV's in low sides, and the foot pegs are effective.

I wouldn't bother. Pretty expensive and as mentioned it's actually pretty rare to have an off that holes the engine side covers.

I've had plenty of crashes at the track and so I've needed to fix up damage pretty regularly. In almost all cases I've needed to replace a handlebar and a footpeg assembly.

The best piece of equipment you can add would be a decent set of engine crash protectors (crash bungs), they just work. If you are going to add anything, add these.

plus....its traditional to add engine case protectors only after damaging an engine case, making it even more less likely to be of any use ;-)

besides, replacement engine casings are cheap enough on ebay too.
