That's rough. No idea what happened to him, but I'm pretty sure leathers wouldn't have saved him. Maybe helped a bit, but that's an impact wound, isn't it? Not road rash. Maybe mega chest padding might've helped. Either way, ouch.
Thanks for putting me off my digestive biscuit. ;)

I think thats way too extreme a vid for this forum.
Sorry
I do have some 'extremely' graphic pictures upstairs of Pegs leg, that are gruesome, but I'd far rather not see someone with an open chest on here thanks all the same. That vid is sick tbh.

Perhaps this needs to be shown to all the knobbers riding their bikes, wearing t shirts and flip flops
I saw my first last week

Nasty, but I see no evidence that this was caused while riding a bike (apart from the video poster's say so). I agree that leathers would have been of limited value as it is a puncture wound, presumably caused by the JCB bucket that wobbles into shot.
What amazes me more than anything is how everyone is standing well clear and not helping the poor bugger, but they have time to film it!! Jesus folks are callous.

or its faked?

I also wondered if it was fake for a first aid training exercise, the bleeding appears to have stopped and the victim has pretty good colour for a chest wound...
Sorry its in a "U" rated part of the forum. :(
Live leak is notorious for having faked videos but also some very sick real videos.
Leathers would have done nothing for that bloke, and as said before it doesnt really look like it has anything to do with motorcycling.
His heart is beating very slowly so i'm sure the poor bloke bled out in no time.
Cant see how this is "Idle banter".

I'm no prude, but I just can't see what value posting a vid like that is supposed to add to anyone's life.
I'm not one for holier than thou type posts either, but if I want to see stuff like that, SV650 forum is not the place I'd be looking.
There's no educational value in it either, as there was with the 'always wear yer feckin' leathers' thread.
Oh well...

I tell you what angers me, w@nkers that stand by and take camera footage of things and people when they should be helping. Don't care if this is fake or not, or if there was nothing that could be done for the guy, there are instances like this and it really makes me fncking angry.

What would you do? Recovery position?
As well as a couple of you, I hate seeing this stuff. But I feel more strongly that it's sheltering people from realities, like this, which make people think they're invincible. I doubt if the dude in the vid had seen such a gruesome clip before he set out, he would have dressed so comfortably (regardless of whether it's a puncture wound or not).
These things happen, anybody on here can be exposed to things like this, why avoid it and pretend they don't! (And besides, you did get plenty of warning!)

There is of course the report button.
I'm surprised its stayed on so long TBH.
As Nobby said there is more education in the 'Wear yer ferkin leathers thread' in the photo section, than this.
I saw approximately 3 seconds of the video, and felt like hurling my breakfast at the screen. I don't have a weak stomach, and have seen some of the best scars and injuries in my own home.
I know Vox adjusted the phrase for caution, but I really don't even think that was enough warning.

Good point, I wouldn't film it either. But for some cultures, horrible stuff happens like this every single day.
If I saw two people fighting, I would be worried, I wouldn't think to film it. But a simple 'tube search shows that many people are so comfortable around people fighting that they film it. They're so used to it. Hence, I wouldn't be surprised if the bystanders are so used to seeing stuff like this, unlike us, that whilst we gasp, they film. I've seen CCTV videos of a child in China getting hit by a car on a market street. The car drives off, running the child over in the process. The child's wriggling in pain, struggling to breath, bleeding a lot from their severed legs. And people walk by, as if it was a normal market street. One guy steps over the body, without even stopping. Another car drives over the kid as if it were a speed bump. Until much later, a woman picks up the half-body and walks off. Some places in China also flay animals alive before beating them to death on market streets because they believe it makes the meat taste better. So again, I think WTF MAN, but they're so accustomed to it, filming is no big deal.
Just to reiterate, I wouldn't film this OP guy either, but I can see why people living there, might. And it's been a good reminder to me to keep safe.

Because, it seems my comments are not valid around these parts, or indeed all the others that happen to agree.

Didn't mean to upset anyone, just to shock them into the real world, I see too many idiots on the road with the correct gear and not, either way if this vid has shocked you into wearing the correct gear, reminding you you're not invincible and to think of your families before any of you decide to be a little silly this summer then job done regardless if it's removed or not.
Safe riding this years and lets all hope we're all here this time next year.

Don't we all get fed up of idiots riding without the correct gear etc.
However even the idiots amongst us, have had friends die, or be maimed after wearing such protective gear.
I somehow doubt after recent events, that we need reminding how we are most certainly NOT invincible.

Take a peep up at the top of Idle Banter, in amongst comedy and the megathread. I really shouldn't have to be the one to point out the obvious, but if you insist........

Honestly, I do think this is a wee bit graphic for a u rated forum. Can't have boobies, but can have something like this?
Regardless, the message is good and this is kind of thread that just makes me feel sorry for the mods. Remove it and get stick for it. Don't remove it and get stick for it.
People that ride around in shorts and flip flops will only learn one way...and that is when they see it with their own eyes IN PERSON because it happens to them or someone they are riding with. Videos and pictures are no deterrent to the idiots that will just say, "yeah, but I know how to ride a bike so I'm fine".
I don't know one person on this forum that would ride without a top on. It might make those that ride in jeans or trainers to think a bit more, but those that ride bare skin will not learn anything from this other than how to share the video with tons of other people for their gross amusement because if you ride in shorts and flip flops you're the kind of idiot that would have stood by and videoed this in the first place.
Some people just can't be helped

what winds me up more are the people who take pillions wearing no protection whatsoever when they are in full leathers.
Saw a guy last week all alpinestarred up while his female pillion looked like she'd just left the office, suit and flat shoes, not even a pair of socks. I very much doubt the rider would agree to ride if they'd swapped clothes...

This thread was taken down while it was discussed in the moderator's corner. The U-rating was clarified by the site leaders and it was decided that the linked video was not suitable, despite the content warning.
Sorry to those that were offended, but remember that not all mods are able to be on here 24x7. Also remember that the u-rating is a subjective thing and not all mods get it right all of the time.
