I know it doesn't compare with the video. but the sentiment is well alive in my village.

An old chap 83 who used to turn up at my parents door in the early 60 on either his Brough Superior, Panther or Velocette Venom is still riding. But sadly not those bikes.

His weekday runabout is a Tiger Cub. His toy is a Franny Barnet something. and his distance tool is Kawasaki ZZR 600. He got rid of his blade about 5 years ago as he was scared his daughter would kill herself whenever she borrowed it.

He reckons he got the bug when he was a kid and it will eventually kill him.

As in his wife if he buys another bike.

MASSIVE PLUS ONE!
Drives me nuts that other countries have such freedom of use yet ours seems intent on stopping people doing anything.
Then the places where you can actually have fun all have noise restirctions and time restrictions and as such drive a high premium in order to cover their over heads.

Take the MX day been planned in Donny, over £100 for the day... you could buy all the gear (exc bike) for little more than that, then with a bike you could do it as often as you please... only you cant becuase no one lets you :(

I've just come back from Fuertevenutra visiting my mum and its looks so cool when you're driving down the highway and a quad or motocross drives out of a river bed up an embankment and uses about 100m of highway before leaving the road on the other side and off down another track heading up into the mountains... Jaw droppingly envious!

I pressed play on that video then saw it was 19 mins long!! Thought I would get bored quickly but watched the whole thing!! Brilliant!!

Watching them ride was great. Midway through I though...mm I'd like to give that a go then realised where we lived and there was no where to do it!!

+1 here too. I know you ride MBs, and I don't so, it probably ****es you off even more that you can't ride that on footpaths in the country and all that rubbish.

I had a greenlaning bike for 2 years, and we rode some trails that we weren't supposed to, even though we hardly ever encountered walkers. We always struggled to find places to ride. We weren't irresponsible (we assumed walkers/dogs would be round each corner), and we didn't ruin trails, but there was always a sense of paranoia.

I just sometimes sit here and marvel at how little freedom we have to do anything. All I want to do is be able to ride out into the countryside like those old timers, and enjoy a day of freedom, wildnerness and petrol. But it's so hard in this country. It's made me want to move to Canada. So much wilderness and more freedom there.
