Took it for a blast in the late afternoon sun. Very impressed! Loved the sound above 9,000rpm. Seemed very stable at speed. I had read that the suspension was a little soft - I found it just right and very forgiving on uneven surfaces. Wow those brakes are good! I need to explore the lean angle a bit more but the roll on power going through a bend is great. I will stick with the stock exhaust - I've had aftermarkets on other bikes and found the drone annoying after a while - near the red line this can sings ok IMO. So far so good - a great motor in a light bike with excellent handling and superb brakes. I did 30 miles on a variety of roads and found it very comfortable. The best thing I found was that I did not need to downshift much to gain power. Hope the weather is good again tomorrow!
yup they are ace bikes. enjoy yer new toy and stay shiny side up.

Glad you got it and are enjoying it!! Weather doesn't look so hot for the weekend... shame, was hoping to get out and I bet you were too.
Great choice in colour wish I had waited to get the black frame and everything but how was I to know.

I try to ride most days - take the V-Strom if it's iffy but I would really like to ride the SV at the moment cos I'm soooooo liking it!

I rode a K9 a little while ago and the difference between that and my K3 was really noticeable. The handling was lovely, the brakes felt solid and the whole bike felt so light and even a little smaller.
However, being an old tart I very soon missed my high handle bars and the restriction on it was awful. The refinement on the bike is so clear, it almost made me want a new one.

After 12 months, first bike, I am still loving the SV. I agree with you on the exhaust. Part of me wants to get something a bit louder, maybe a REMUS, but the other part of me likes the fact the stock exhaust doesn't shake the neighbours out of bed at 6.00 am.
Delivered today and reving to 'over 9000 revs' and 'near the red line' mmmm

Exactly what I was thinking, my friend picked up a new bike (Although saying that it may not be running in still) and the dealer told him don't bother running it in as modern bikes don't need it!

not really. the bores take very little time to bed in. its the gears that need polishing that takes the time. best thing you can do for a new bike is town/city/b roads riding to get up and down the gears as much as you can before the first oil change which should be full of 'swarf' 'glitter'. then this will slowly disappear after each oil change.

Yes black frames look so nice, but I find the Black tank dissapointing with regard to marks. Probably red, blue or yellow a better option!
(Note to self: loose a bit more weight and stop catching the tank).

I'm with cazzie & beetrootkiller on this one ! Theres a lot more to an engine than just bores and gears. As you say use the box. But don't let the engine labour otherwise you will knockout the mains and ends, vary your speed, accelerate smoothly and gently and use the box in the same way.It will pay dividends in the end.I've prooved this many times in the past against identical bikes. Read your Suzuki owners manual ,as provided with a new bike, even they say in section 4.2 1st 500 miles stay below 5500 revs, then up to 1000 miles 8250 revs, still below the 9000 revs done with less than 30 miles on the clock on the featured bike. And regarding the swarf, my bike had a very small amount that disapeared after the first oil change.

Ahhhh! - let me explain 2011 with 1600 miles on the clock so well run in, hence my red lining! My last new bike I ran in by the book but I must confess I hate the running in period....one of the reasons I bought nearly new - all the boring stuff was done so I can play straight away. Done 200 miles on it now and boy does this black beauty like to be ridden! One thing I have noticed though - it's throwing into the bends nicely but I'm finding those stock Dunlop tyres are very hard to wear down the last 20mm of chicken strip :smt017 I suppose I need to get a little more use to it yet! My V-Strom tyres are worn nearly to the edge. Not that it matters too much but just an observation.
that's because the dunlops have as much feedback as wooden clogs with marbles underneath.

+1
I'd recommend Bridgestone BT023 for every day use, never let me down very grippy.

Looks just like mine when I bought it new last September!
