My mates son has just passed his test :D and is looking at SV's. The last one we had was a silver 2001 curvy with the washers fitted (or not!) which my son should never have sold (the best first bike in the world), bought a ZX636 crashed it etc, etc.....

Anyway, for the newer FI models, what is the restriction method? And is it worth buying a full power and then getting it restricted or finding one already done?

Thanks in advance for your help

The newer ones are a plug in restrictor, two minute job. They often come up for sale on the forum for about £40.

Thanks, I see there are a few on FleaBay at the moment.

As above, buy a new restricted ECU. I rode a washer and throttle stop restricted K9 recently and frankly it was horrid. My K3 was ECU restricted and that rode lovely, with full throttle action and a nice power delivery. Don't try to fit an after market kit, just get the ECU, you will appreciate the bike more.

Thanks Jayne.
It won't be me riding it, I've got my silky smooth 1050 Speed Triple :-).

I do remember riding the carb version with the blanking plates fitted and that was fine, it just lacked the top end power compared to the full fat version. Stll a nice bike to ride though even with just 33bhp, I like SV's.
