Well today was the day it finally happened, I picked up my brand new DL650 v-strom, I know it's not an SV, but the engine is the same so I feel I have some sort of almost right to be here (anyway you guys are fine and I like it here!)

So this is how the day goes, first coax the Monster into life to get it to the dealer to part exchange, backfire, cough and kangaroo to dealer, I loved the Monster, but she was very Italian, hated the cold and damp. Remove all my money from bank account, give it to bike dealer. Leave shop on lovely new bike, take it to show my parents, just to show off to my dad who has a Gladius. Ride around finding excuses to use the bike, including a quite long detour to avoid the new top coat being laid on one of our local roads today.

Have lunch, rest to get over the excitement.

Get DJ to feed kids before dragging him out for a ride this evening, I love my new bike, I could have kept riding all night, (reading it back that only works in context doesn't it?). I could even tell what the temperature was so we knew how cold we were, silly I know, but it made me laugh. DJ is being brilliant about it, I know he would like a new bike too, but I was lucky enough to be the one who got the tax rebate!

My Monster and the V-strom could not be two more different bikes, one truly basic and temperamental, the other all computer and easy going, but I think I am going to enjoy the new bike and it is really lovely to not feel that my legs are squished up any more, I am now ready for proper rides and hopefully touring. We just have to work out how to persuade the grandparents to look after the kids, or given that they are 11 and 12 more likely take them with us, it is not like they need much luggage they are always happy to be smelly and dirty!

Cool, let us know how the bike goes, sounds like you are a happy camper with a lovely Suzuki V engine, nice to keep the family on the same engine too! Hugs from us xxx

I like V-Stroms, I did think about buying one before I got my Versys but just fancied a change away from Suzuki
after two SVs

Congrats!

Suzuki have made a very good job of the new wee strom. Lots of well considered bits.

You are a lassie and you have not even told us what colour! What gives?!

Black , white or...... Irn-Bru!?

Very nice, I think the V-Strom is a great bike and good value for money to boot.

Woohoo! Lucky you. :) My instructor had a V-Strom. I remember him talking about all his bikes but saying he liked it as a really practical comfortable bike. Sounds like a good choice. :)

I think that's going to be my next bike so i'll be interested to hear how you get on with it. I had the thou a few years ago and really miss it. The new one looks much better too.

Lovely black with a slight hint of sparkly bits. It has been named Stitch (after Lilo and Stitch) by the family, well I say the family, DJ took one look at it and named it
