Continuing from my suggestions thread http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=176167
24 July 2012
I am going to be 'blind' for a day to raise funds for the Blue Lamp Foundation.
An orger suggested being blind so I will be out and about in the public. A fellow colleague is going to be by my side for the day recording my blunders.
Please sponsor me in what is going to be a difficult day, I will know what it feels like to tackle the most basic task without sight and have a feel for how David felt and what he had to contend with.
If you wish to set me a task I will endeavour to complete and video.
I appreciate any donation no matter how small..... I aim to raise £300 minimum .... so come on guys help me hit my target.

THANK YOU x
The org is my main sponsor so I will be getting a T Shirt with org on and hopefully some local publicity, so the org will be mentioned.

Thank you for the generous donations so far
60 quid
Help me hit my target ..... and I need viable tasks to complete along the way
Task for the day to cook a simple meal (not mircowave) beans on toast or cheese on toast etc
Mrs DJ Fridge
23-04-12, 09:50 PM
I cannot do that with my eyes, let alone without! Without DJ our family would starve, or just live on cold food, I am sure I have told you all before how we had been in our house for six months before I had to ask him how to make the hob work, I had never had a gas hob with electric start before. It took six months and a party, it was during the party I had to ask him, before I needed the hob. Over a year before I used the oven.

Having wine night tonight to sort out, need ideas of tasks still folks.
Cooking basic meal is one
Need more tasks and of course donations. x
Woozle gotta make a fool outta herself.
Any opticians on here ? Need eye care advise
Speedy Claire
26-04-12, 09:10 PM
Clair could get you the eye care advice hun. Sorry for not coming up with any suggestions yet but will put my mind to it over next couple of days.
I think just trying to negotiate your way around the local asda or shopping centre would be a task in itself.... would also be terrifying as you`d be feeling so vulnerable.
How about taking a bus trip somewhere? making sure you`re on the right bus, have the right money to pay etc etc. and try eating out and ordering from a menu?
Will have a better think over next couple of days hun xx

Do you dye/colour etc your hair by any chance?
Can you get someone to organise your wardrobe then describe the layout to you but then leave you to choose your clothes of the day?
Shellywoozle

Speedy, thanks for your sponsor x x after having our planning wine evenin last night I am terrified.
My guide is putting me to bed the day before blind folded so I wake up blind. She will video most of it ;/ best not go to bed starkers.
Claire your original suggestion of attaching Sam to me, well he is my guide dog ;/ Argghh.
I am shopping in Asda for my beans and bread ..... god help me x

Rather you than me, I must say.
I was going to say that I think it'll be an eye opener, but that would be a very poor choice of words. What I mean is that I'm sure you'll think of all sorts of additional complications. Are you going to work that day? Have you considered trying to use public transport?
I was discussing with Constanze (Mrs Amadeus) and we think that going to the loo will be a whole new experience.
Do let us know how you get on. I'm sure you'll get a lot more sponsorship when the time approaches. It's just that times are very hard right now. If desperation strikes, just tell people that you *are* being put to bed starkers - that'll get a bit of attention! :-)

Lol I blame you its all your fault ha ha
I thought about the loo, walking the dog (thankfully I won't see him poo), eating, shopping, dressing, its all gonna be a night mare.
I have £100 so far, so thank you everyone that's been do generous to date. I have ordered charity buckets which I will take with me on the day. I am going to local fire and ambulance stations too.
Videos will be taken and worse thing is I won't know what us being videod lol

Thinking about it, I assume you'll have someone with you all day? You could injure yourself cooking for example. I wonder how long it takes until you're safe to be left alone. PC Rathbone lived alone I think?

Just found this thread to find out when it is. May as well (shamelessly) bump it whilst I'm here - all for a good cause etc.
I hope you've had plenty of PMs with requests for things to do whilst blindfolded. And I hope your mate is evil. No need to censor any poor language in the vids! :-)

With the recent news it shows the danger that some of our services put themselves in so a very worthy cause.
Michelle: Are you still planning on sending the censored shots to those who have sponsored you? :-)

Come on all - £2 from each regular and we'll get her up to her target.
That's not even enough to buy a quails egg, or a pint of beer for the working classes amongst you.

Not your fault Michelle. It is what it is and it will happen eventually.
Not sure what a rest day is tho - surely it's not your day off - you can't work constantly in a high pressure environment like you do without a day off?

Well guys I did it yesterday, after a slight change to the starting time, I completed a day blind.
I did a 12hr nifhtshift finishing at 9am so I started not far off that and raised £351.93 with your help.. a big thank you !
I will try and crank my computer up later to download the pics.
I have to say being blind was horrid, my hearing was superb by the end of it. Could hear background noise better than that up close, very weird.

Congratulations! I'm really impressed and you've done David proud.
I can imagine that if you didn't have someone with you, it would have been pretty easy to injure yourself (e.g. burn yourself in the first photo).
I assume that's David's brother in the 3rd photo? He's a spitting image of David!
Thanks for doing it. I can appreciate that it was hard and probably not a huge amount of fun.
PS: You look very chic/bling! I assume you didn't paint your toenails whilst "blind" - that would have been carnage!
