Well folks. If all goes to plan I get my bike on Thursday, possibly Friday.

If the weather is decent next weekend, does anyone fancy meeting up?

I know Bordtea has just got a bike so maybe that's 2 of us. :smt117

I passed my test a couple of weeks ago, and the only riding I have ever done was on the DAS course, so I am fairly slow and have a healthy fear of riding. So it's not a "Let's meet up and see how fast we can take the bends" kind of thing. More of an excuse to ride somewhere and put some names to faces.

If not, I'm more than happy just riding about for the sake of it. But being new to the area I don't know any decent routes apart from stuff posted on here, and finding the roads without satnav is easier said than done. :riding:

Cheers. It's looking like sunshine and showers which I can cope with

Not a bad idea actually, what day? Might be going to Army Navy on saturday but think I'm free Sunday if we can get a little gathering going! (And I manage to fit my 33bhp restrictor without breaking the bike)

I hope the weather is not too bad this weekend. I am so sick of the rain. I really want to ride this weekend. I will be anyway as I need the practice.

I haven't been on a bike for almost a year due to a crash but hopefully getting a new bike in the next few weeks (if I can ever decide what bike I want!)
I'll be going über slow and steady to get my confidence back and would be good to have some company.
I'll let you know what I get.

Sounds good mate. I Just need to gain experience.

At the moment it's all about getting out and about, finding some nice roads, meeting a few other bikers, and learning to ride better.

I can't wait. Unless something goes wrong, I get my bike tomorrow evening.

Will it be a sat or Sunday ? Or both? :-) Sat i`m busy but sunday I could possibly do if it`s dry, fed up of riding in the rain.

I intend to be out both Saturday and Sunday. I'll confirm tomorrow, but that's my intention.

I am so excited!

Same here. I've never ridden on the road in the wet.

During my DAS the only time it was wet was when I was doing Mod 1 practice.

Lately, it seems that if you don't ride in the rain, then you don't ride. So let's get it on! :grouphug:

Well I have the bike now, so shall we say Sunday?

If we get some interest, then we can arrange to meet that's convenient for us all.

sounds good the weather will be very wet but it is all good practice. Any sort of route in mind?

Bordtea
26-04-12, 11:18 PM
Yep sounds good should be there as long as I can get the bike sorted in time, mucking about last night trying to fit my restrictor and I think I've dislodged something as it's misfiring like a bugger now. Gonna have another play tommorow evening and if still can't discover the problem then I'll take it down the garage Saturday... so hopefully could be there on Sunday!

Sounds good. I've seen some decent routes on various websites, but I'm new to the area, so I'm happy if people already know routes. I'll have another look tonight. I'll pm my mobile number to anyone that needs it when I get home from work.

I'm a tart

The 1st step is admitting you have a problem ;)
I would be game but Wont be back in surrey until next week sometime :( want to go riding now.

start at newlands, down the hill right towards shear then follow that till a T-junction, left towards Cranleigh and play as it brings you out by box hill nice 50mile route with varying twisties and straights

I finished work at 6 today, and seen as the weather was actually ok, I went out for an hour.

But it was a spur of the moment thing and so I didn't really have a route as such. I just ended up going between Farnborough and Farnham and back again hehe. I still REALLY enjoyed it. I just need to learn some routes and maybe an actual destination.

WayneL
27-04-12, 07:54 PM
Ok so how about Newlands Corner? I've seen it mentioned several times.

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&...,8.84,,1,18.78 (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=51.232902,-0.505647&spn=0.000002,0.001031&t=h&z=20&layer=c&cbll=51.232902,-0.505756&panoid=B7azEZD6YXEV_xsWaJSXaw&cbp=12,8.84,,1,18.78)

For those that live to the west, we could maybe meet up at Farnborough before heading east? Thoughts/Suggestions? I know Bordtea is furthest west, so let me know.

Well I've just been for a quick (well slow really) ride to farnborough and back.

It was the first time I've ever ridden in the rain, and my aim was to see if I could do so safely, which I can.

However, it's not the most comfortable of experiences in my opinion, mainly due to the fact that most car drivers seem to drive exactly the same as they would in the dry. Plus you can see all the sodding diesel on the road (seems to be patches on almost every road).

So to cut a long story short. Unless the weather improves for tomorrow, I shall be giving the bike a rest. It's forecast for rain, but you never know.

All my gear is waterproof mate. Getting wet isn't what bothers me. We'll see how bad it gets. If it's not too wet I'll be out rest assured. I've even been watching the weather this last couple of hours to see if I can get a quick ride out this evening, but it's not looking promising.

A quick break in the clouds tomorrow and I'll be out.

I can't face a whole day without going for a ride. So unless it's still pouring it down, I'm going out later.

You down south next weekend?

Good stuff. I'm meeting Tomor later on for a bit of a ride. We see spots of sun!

An hour ago it was pouring it down. Let's just hope there's no more rain today!
