i'm sure a while back someone fitted the older Aprillia RS 125 fairings and it looked the mutz nutz

Yes, RS 125 look good, early 00s GSXR 600 but a bit wide still good and probably the most popular full fairing conversion, see svrider FAQ, 748 very swish if you can source an affordable set, has been done. A search should help and you get images.
