you know the crap that comes threw your door every feckin day.

i wonder how the spammers would react to me phoning them up and asking them to come collect their spam back...

at the moment its political and council elections and i get at least 3-4 fliers threw the door every day. so i could ask them to come collect their fliers and at the same time speak to them about spam mail and the problem it's causing and what they intend to do about if they get elected.

Wait til they ring you up!

The Lib dems rang me yesterday, couldn't believe the cheek of it. Poor young fella really rang the wrong woman at the wrong time of the day. Thankfully Oli has now decided that screaming is fun, and was in full flow at the time :D

begs the question of where they got your number. that's bad bad advertising and would put me right off voting for them.

Yes, it really does. I don't like it either

He asked me who I usually vote for, and who I would be voting for this time.

Desperation tactics!

I was asked that a few years back by a council rep at the door. I said that I would prefer to keep that information private and just vote on the day anonymously and he said, "but if you tell me I can discuss our plans with you".

I remember saying something along the lines of, "Not respecting someone wish to keep their vote private is not a great way to gather support".

Not even an apology...just a thank you and good day. Idiots!

I told him nothing, as I totally agree. My right to vote anonymously was almost breeched. I pretty much said that to the guy on the phone.

I also said, not one party has so far earned my vote, as they are all a disappointment.

i had the same 2 weeks ago. canvaser asking who i will be voting for i said none of your bloody business he then looked at me as if i had two heads.

next time my reply will be 'well i'm actually in the process of getting my own party together so i can employ people like you and send them round to your door at T time and disturb you wile your eating'.

ooohhh BTW i feckin hate canvassers especially the utility company ones and top of the list is SKY (spit).

You havn't met the woman round here who bangs on the door demanding her ghettoware catalogue back.
Its in the recycling with all the other crap - don't push it through my door if you want to keep it.

when you get a flier through the post keep them for a while.

when you get unwanted paperwork through that has a return envelope put the unwanted fliers in the envelope and send without a stamp.

that way the people that send lots of stuff out finally have something to open and read from the return enevlope. they will be expecting their paperwork back with a cheque or a commitment to subsrcibe to whatever crap they sent you and will see what it is like to get unwanted stuff through the post.

I used to have a sign up that said 'No fliers unless it's for decent pizza'.

For the next elections I'm quote tempted to put up a poster saying 'I'm only voting for Satan, all canvassers will be invited in and then tortured'.

If there is a return address use it, but put some mouldy fruit or old cheese in the envelope too and no stamp of course.

Registering with telephone and mail preference service helps.

My first temp job was opening the post for a no-longer-independant software company. Mailings out to the registered user base when new versions came out had prepaid envelopes. Some of the stuff that we had sent back to us was very funny; rude messages written on the order forms, pizza/curry menus (was that you Apollo?), and even pages torn out of porno mags... After a while you just binned the non-genuine stuff without noticing but the bill for unpaid postage each month was horrendous!
