My sons only gone and passed both parts of his bike test today!
He turned 17 in December so we put him through his car test which he passed a couple of months ago, and then given all the changes that are due around the bike test, and as he is in the mindset of doing DSA tests, I thought it prudent to let him have a go at his bike licence sooner rather than later.

In fairness he's been riding bikes since he was about 5 or 6, and is quite capable of keeping me honest round the track (he's got a GSXR 600) but his road riding has been restricted to riding a moped. He signed up with one of our local bike training firms for a three day package and spent the first two days learning about mod 1, which he went and took this morning. When they got back to the training centre after the test it turned out another pupil who had been due to take his mod 2 this afternoon had lost the necessary paperwork (part one pass certificate I think?) so they offered his slot to my son. He had about 20 minutes to learn the show me/tell me questions and off he went. What a result, only two minors!

Anyone know if you can re-programme a PC3 to only produce 33bhp or do I need to buy a restricted ECU......?

Impressive! Happy riding to your lad, sounds like he would have breezed it whenever he had to take it anyway :-)

Yeah, I think insurance companies are going to be my friend for a while because he can't afford to get covered on any of my bikes......and his track bike isn't road registered! Cheeky git has already pointed out that his initials are the same as mine.......

Good job most policies on PNC have the date of birth! That's caught out many kids driving their parents car. Cue awkward phone calls....

well done that young one!

RH I don't a PC3 would allow a 33 brake mode (may add 33 brake)

Congrats to your young man! We've got about 5 years before we are in the same boat. Looking forward to it and dreading it in about equal measures
