Hi all,
Looking at top box possibilities. I have seen an sv with a sw motech bracket fitted which looks really well as its nice and neat and doesnt stick way out the back of the bike. It can be got with various adaptor plates, and then obviously get a box and mounting plate.
What I have looked into is the SW Motech top rack with givi monolock adaptor, and fitting a givi E340 monolock.
Has anyone got a top box if so what box, fitting rack etc etc and any info would be great.

did u go monolock/monokey?? does the v46 look bulky on sv650?? When u get the top box it usually comes with a mounting kit............when looking online u get the option to purchase a fitting adaptor/kit with the sw motech rack............do u need both adaptors i.e the one with rack and the one with the top box??

V46 is monokey. You only need sw motechs plate. Looks fine. If i remember tomorrow morning I'll take a photo when i get to work..

Monolock cases are classed as 'Light use' and are basically intended for scooters.

Sw motech rack and givi v46 tech top box
I have the same setup on my GSX.
The shop I went to (specialise in luggage) had lots of the Monolock stuff on special offer but did say they are speed limited (mentioned 90kph??), weight limited (3kg), and the mounting system is not as strong (the tabs are not as robust as the posts on the Monokey). So I got the Monokey V46. Trouble is since fitting it nearly a month ago the weather has not allowed me to go out and try it...

'the guru' do u find with the top box on the sw motech mount that it takes up some pillion passenger space?? Most of the time that i will have the top box fitted will be with a pillion, so dont want it imposing too much on pillion space!!!
Givi arms, monolock V46
I now have swapped over to the monokey, 10kg. It is fits a lot better on to the plate due to the lock mechanism being bigger and stronger. I would highly recommend going for monokey over monolock.
Bah speed rated, mine did 3 figures no problem

Nah.. No probs with pillion
I've read somewhere that none of these boxes will work with a tail tidy?!?! I hope this isn't true as I need to get a topbox and rack for touring but don't want to have to put the old equipment back on the tail.
Anyone using a box with a tail tidy on a pointy SV650S?

The SW-Motech rack and givi box have nothing to do with tail tidy.

Depends on the bike. Some fix to the underside, where the stock fender bolts on (eg later model Bandit 650), some use the grab rail mounts like my GSXF. If I had gone for the Givi side bars I would have an ugly bracket bending down from the grab rail mounts where the same year Bandit has a bracket that bolts under the fender and is barely noticable. My SW-Motech only uses the grab rail mounts - I lose a bit of capacity (7.5kg max per the fitting instructions) but it is MUCH neater.
If you have a tail tidy do your homework first. Givi have fitting instructions in pdf format against each kit they sell. Very useful!!

We're talking about an SV650 (Pointy) and I was talking specifically about the SW-Motech rack.
