Just bought a pair of these cheapie gold high power phone batteries (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/P218-2430mAh-Gold-Battery-3x-Screen-Protector-For-Samsung-S5830-Galaxy-Ace-/190663441113?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2c646d3ad9)for my Samsung Galaxy Ace. 2430mAh rather than the standard 1600 mAh ones. Question is, should I risk using them in my phone or will they just overheat and cook it?

Do it and let us know. :)

If its the same voltage they will just last longer, the phone isn't going to suddenly draw more current from the battery and melt itself.

*If it does then I don't know why!

A lot of cheap batteries mAh rating is optimistic.

Me, I'd be a bit cautious about using cheapy batteries, bearing in mind that even expensive batteries can have problems. Sony had a problem a couple of years back with laptop batteries, in their own products and batteries they made for Dell and Apple, catching fire. Not what you want in your pocket!

Hi there I've got a Samsung s2 and the battery doesn't last long when using the phone so i bought one of these cheap gold batteries claiming to be double the power. Don't do it they are worthless they are not any better than my genuine Samsung battery if not worse. save yourself some don't buy them as i have just put my original battery back in and its back to normal.

I bought one of these 2430mAh to replace the standard 1600 mAh battery. I have an app on my phone that monitors battery useage, duration, voltage ect..... and the 2430mAh i bought assuming it would last longer actually lasts quite a bit less.

Not worth it TBF.

I would suggest buying a brand new original manufacturer battery.

If these batteries were as great as described in the advert you would assume the manufacturer would fit them as standard and brag about the battery life when selling the phone.

you live and learn

Thanks for the comments everyone. I did things the wrong way round and bought the things before thinking about it. Doh!
