If I win the euromillions :D

Just having a random conversation over Saturday kitchen with drew & lily saying that if I won the euromillions I'd probably build a race circuit somewhere in Yorkshire/northern England.

Probably on a similar calibre to cadwell, not as old school as croft, not as spanking as brands.

Reckon we could do it with a fictional euro lottery win of £138m?

What's wrong with Olivers Mount?
There was also a proposed circuit ( even before my time ) inland of Scarborough.

Build it in the South, the weather is much nicer down here!

They'll love bikes churning up the hallowed turf at Ascot & frightening the horses.

There's plenty of spare grass land around Aascot/Windsor. You'd be able to build if you can persuade the Queen it's a good idea. I mean Harry and William are into bikes ;)

I've already decided if I win the lottery (it would help if I bought tickets! :-) ) that I'd buy the rights to the Britten motorcycle (which are festering in a bank vault somewhere) and release it as an affordable road bike and race machine.

... then we'd come and race them at your circuit, Paul! :-)

No thanks Paul, once the southerners have been they'll want to come back.

What you need to do dude is build the circuit and a paddock full of bikes. Keep it private. Invite us all up. Rag it about all day. Also add a bar and maybe brothel (I'll handle the ghosts). And a cinema. And maybe a paintball site too. Then I will kill anyone you want me to.

There's a nice little circuit in the Auvergne at Clermont Ferrand that I'm sure the new French President will happily sell you the rights to.

The whole premise of the conversation was that croft has gone off the bsb calendar now and there's knock hill in Scotland or oulton park in Cheshire: nothing else in northern England..

And the jist of OP was to find out if we could do it with £138 million or would we be no where near?

Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Oulton Park and Snetterton have a joint turnover of around £30 million a year. So yes, if you invested your 138 million wisely, you could do it for a few years. It seems to be very difficult to do well though.

Just re-read my last post & I sounds like a right grumpy bast - sorry bout that!

Drew mentioned competition grade Tarmac which sounds expensive? Stil do-able?
