Bigger dog bones?

Hi,

Thinking of replacing the standard dog bones for bigger ones that will lift the back of the bike approx 30mm, Making the bike steer quicker into corners, and also the steering more responsive. (so thats what i have been told) is this a valid mod?

30mm seems high, wont it alter it just too much? I fitted a taller (approx 15mm higher) shock to my sv and it does turn in better.

i have mine jacked up 2" on the dog bones. Your meant to jack the bike up via the shock but i've had no problems and my sv responds alot better than on the standard length, tips in quicker and is easier to flick about. Having said that im not on standard suspension so could handle like sack of crap on a standard shock at that hight

also IIRC when i did mine at 2", it was the very limit as slightly over and something would start fowling but i cant remember what it was (was ages ago), think it was the shock on the back of the swing arm :-k my brother made my dog bones off a template i got of maviczap

If you put 'bigger dog bones' on an SV it will be lower.

If the bike in question is an SV, why is this not in 'SV talk'?

I thought that bigger lowered it as well!! So get shorter ones. But what's problem with dropping the yokes (raising the forks) 5-10mm save alot of time and money.

Bigger lower, smaller taller HTH.

TBH unless you are 12 feet tall, and prefer a stupid turn in point. I wouldn't bother. All subject to personal preference, but I inherited my second SV with a jack up kit on it, and to me it was utter pants. After a week I exchanged them for standard bones.

I had the SV on a shock that was 10mm longer and the forks dropped 10mm. It made a big difference. I dunno what 30mm higher on the back would do though. Might get a bit flighty!!!
