Substitute your deity for nature if appropriate.
But the question still stands. What purpose beyond driving me nuts with huge itchy lumps do these blood sucking pests serve? Why did your god permit them to evolve and short of dumping 20,000 ton of DDT on my home. What can be done to persuade the little sods to go and eat somebody else.
That time of year again
Tim, obviously nature finds you very tasty! You should take it as a compliment. Is there not a repellent you can get for them similar to a mozzi spray?
I thought it was more a case of why did nature create Lancastrian's...... to be midge food?

Avon skin so soft. It's oil based (and flammable) so the midges melt as soon as they land on your skin. Still annoying but no likey no bitey

I think this is a sizeist comment. You're not that tall yourself Tim.

Nature created them so the Tykes and southerners can complain that they have been North

LOL, I read that as why did nature create midgets? A bit harsh, I thought. Midges, on the other hand, are here to make jocks feel all tough and manly.

so as to give us scots something to laugh about when we get invaded by pommys every year :-)

Yes but is the secret how to be rid of them or where they came from?
Personally I think they're breeding them then releasing them on the world every spring as some sort of evil plot.
