View Full Version : Bike down
location - Tower Bridge , 10am - traffic backed up both ways, bikes, scooters etc tend to filter down the middle....
So its incredible that people cant get the hang of looking out for us when crossing between traffic, i look out for them, i filter slowly, but i guess if they charge out without looking between a two vans you have got a ( split?) second to react.
I did manage to yell at him, but couldnt hold the bike and on to its side it went. No damage done, that i could tell...ahem ...but the thing kept cutting out and stalling the rest of the way...it was up to 5 blobs of temp but fan was running...any thoughts of what may be causing this
course the horrid little scrote that caused it just ran off....:smt021

Unlucky chap. Glad you got away without any damage. Nobody deserves to stack their bike due to some pleb pedestrian.
This is something what I think is most likely to get me down on my journeys to work....pedestrians crossing between cars without looking. My journey to work is probably very similar to yours (S London to City). I always keep reving the bike with disengaged clutch when I'm filtering standing cars and I've seen so many times surprised and scared faces of those who were crossing between cars and not bothered to check for any bikes. Although those with headphones still don't allow me to sleep at night calmly....
i think it was cos the dweeb RAN out from behind a van , I hadnt seen him, but it was good i was only going 10mph or something...you see these scooterists bombing around with the throttle to the stop....
also cyclists, bombing in and out ot the trafiic, but tthey are COMPLETELY SILENT in their stealthy progress....:smt009

I reckon you got the slightest tap and fell to the floor crying like your hero Didier Drogba ;-)
(Unlucky Pete, and you're right everything seems to be a menace driving and riding in London, and it's getting worse)
Glad to see that someone else has the same concerns as I do.... We probably ride in the similar way..while filtering I go quite slow, reving (looking like a show off idiot for others) and checking every gap for somebody crossing. Some other motorcyclists, most scooterists and most cyclists they don't care...they go fast no matter what. And those cyclists.......absolutely silent, absolutely no respect to others (just yesterday saw a cyclist hitting on purpose the rear view mirror of the bus by his hand as a punishment to the bus driver for pulling over to stop on the bus stop and the cyclist had to slow down a bit....) and absolutely not obbeying any trafic rules (constantly riding on a red light and other hits....I almost had an accident with a cyclist few weeks ago because that **** went on the red light...and was even cheeky enough to stop shout on me). Anyway, hope it's nothing serious with your bike and could be fixed easily and cheaply. Wish you many happy miles without crazy suicidal pedestrians and/or cyclists
Erm, i didnt hink that you could cross on Tower Bridge, or was it a bit closer to Tower Bridge Road?
I had this happen to me in the early years of commuting. Actually run into someone coming out between 2 coaches on his Mobile looking the wrong way outside Canon Street Station. He desrved it, i had 5 witnesses, and the police were called and he got a good telling off. Lucky no damage to me or the bike. Managed to lay it down gently. He however im sure had a nice brusied leg. The world is full of idiots, simples.
Looking forward to the commute tonight in the downpour people are even more mental....
err re Didier - just watch us on the 19th May , son...time to claim THE prize , DD to bag the winner ????

Bad luck mate,
I walk from Fenchurch Street to St Paul's and the number of people that don't look for bikes (peddle or motor) is amazing. It's not like most of them don't do it every day. People talking on phones are the worst. You can only be so cautious on the bike before you start creating problems for yourself (like idiots trying to overtake you when you slow for people running between stationary buses.
Hope bikes is OK
