View Full Version : Found a Scottoiler on my bike.
Found a Scottoiler on my bike, under the riders seat. The delivery tube is connected but doesn't come out near the rear sprocket, I haven't yet found where it goes, it seems to follow the vacuum hose back towards the engine.
Do some people use the to lubricate something else? The nib at the sprocket end, is that just an angular cut tube?

Maybe they have run it to the front sprocket
some people put the nib on the front sprocket to hide all the pipework.
yup vacuum is off the carbs/tb's and there should also be an oil delivery tube going somewhere.
ahh, so if I take the hugger off I might see it, in which case I just need to fill her up. Would I be best moving it to the rear sprocket or is the front ok?
I'll be checking the vacuum hose is connected when the mrs lets me back in the garage, need to also workout my intermittent speedo reading 0 (pointy)
speedo will be a broken rotor inside the hub at the front wheel or wet/grotted connector under tank.
take off the sprocket cover and see if there is a clear tube with a smaller black tube pointing at the chain or front sprocket.
rear sprocket is usually better as it has more area to oil chain rather than front which will fling more off.

Thanks, I'll check the connector. Had the front wheel off and the rotor is undamaged. I might move it to the back if that is the case.

Put some oil in, & start her up in the garage - mrs wont mind.
Leave ticking over for 20 minutes & see where the oil pool is. Nib will be just above that.
If it has been empty, you'll need to prime it
found the nip, it was hovering over the top of the chain mid way between the two sprockets. Not enough tube to reach the rear, going to get some more tube and oil :D
Also lifted the tank and WD40'd the speedo connector, that seemed to do the trick. Took it for a quick 20 min run and it worked the whole time.

Anyone happen to know the internal and external diameter of the delivery tube so i can source a longer replacement? I don't have a tool to measure it myself :P

No I dont, but Scottoiler sell the tubing you want themselves, here

IIRC their spares delivery is pretty quick turnaround.
Scottoiler are great. Visit their site, download all the info on installing and setting up the oiler so you know how it works etc. All the spares you need are there, and they are quick and efficient. I swear by mine.
Move the dispenser to the rear sprocket as the centrifugal force will get it into the links. Any other location will not work.

Worked on mine for over 38000 miles!
Scottoiler said it was fine & now recommend it for certain Ducatis.
Wow, ordered some stuff from Scottoiler on Sunday, arrived today, very impressed. Just need to find 30 min or so to fit the new delivery tube to the rear sprocket and fill her up.
