View Full Version : Seat reupholstery orgpinions?
Hello all, I managed to pick up a gel seat for my curvy nice & cheap because it's got some sewn up rips on it. I was going to get it reupholstered but it's occurred to me that as nice as the style already is I don't have to have it done the same. So any suggestions on something different from the standard?

We'll you're lucky its ripped, because the standard cover acts like a sponge when it rains and holds water. Its pants
There were some quite nice SV covers on Ebay, but otherwise send it to Tony Archer and get it covered in something similar to the normal non gel sv seat

Not sure about the blue... Quite like this one (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUZUKI-SV-650-1000-1999-2002-CUSTOM-SEAT-COVER-/320906067775?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4ab77dff3f#ht_2599wt_922)

Both would look nice
Nice, also love the blue ;)
I can't believe I didn't think of looking on eBay after buying it from there  seems wrong to have to pay more for the cover than I did for the seat but that tears going to annoy me & it would look so much nicer.

Cool. My seat on my 99 curvey is looking a bit worse for wear. All black cover with the SV logo would be great.

That's what I've ended up ordering, I'll put a photo up when I'm done. The YouTube vids make it look soo easy to do, we'll see about that
Hol are those hammer grips on your tank?
Tech spec grips, snakeskin I think they were.

I'm very pleased with it although theres a bit of texture overkill with the seat and tank grips... And it makes the pillion look a bit crap. Seat itself though Ace :) hearty recommendation for that eBay seller :)

Just recovered the curvy seat with leather - obviously better weather here but also had a leather seat on my Laverda many years ago back in London. Properly treated it was brilliant.

A lot easier to do than I expected too, the guys got links to instructional videos on YouTube. Shame it's gonna be covered by my ass

should've got tartan
Just a note if anyone else is considering getting one, it's way slippier than the standard seat. I've been sliding forward on braking all day

I want to make a gel seat for my next bike, how easy is it fix it all back in place once you have removed cover?? What tools do you need?

Like Dizz says stapler, maybe a hair dryer too. Check out the vids

I was surprised what the gel seat consisted of when I took the original cover off - it was mostly foam with a gel insert cut into the middle of it, can't imagine that would be too hard to DIY providing you can find a suitable insert.

i was bidding on this ! :O was at a stupidly low price till the last ten minuets ! haha
I recently bought a replacement seat cover from customcovers off eBay after reading this thread a few weeks ago. It arrived very quickly and was easy to fit thanks to the 2 YouTube videos he has. The only minor gripe was that I ordered the SV logo and got the Suzuki logo. I contacted him explaining the error, but that I was not seeking a replacement as they both look great and, well, my **** will be on it when I'm riding. He was most appologetic and thanked me for my understanding.
It must admit it has transformed my 99 curvy a treat. Others have mentioned that rear seat looks quite plain next to this, but I have a grippy seat on the back for my pillion sons and they look good together.
