My brother is coming over on holiday in July and bringing my 8 month old nephew with him.
I was wondering if any of you parents had a buggy (stroller as he put it) I could borrow for a month.
Preferably one your kid has grown out of and you are not using but are keeping "Just in case"

Borrow a trolley from a supermarket and fit it out!

Ask on Freecycle if you have a local group, then Freecycle it again once you've finished with it?

If you've had no luck nearer the time, then I'm pretty sure we've got something in the loft.

Easy enough to get couriered to you

You and Hazey get your rrssss down here for a visit and you can take all the baby bits you could possibly need home with you ;-) :D

She was just talking about that the other day.

PS: It's the one bit you shouldn't have to borrow though, they will tag his pushchair as hold luggage at the check in desk, but let him take it right to the door of the plane, before they take it off him and stow it. Then on arrival they will stick it on the baggage belt with the suitcases. We took Euan's pushchair to Mexico on Continental from Edinburgh via Newark

Having to carry the baby all the way to, and through, the airport and having nowhere to put the baby down and sleep in the departure lounge is a nightmare, especially if they get a 5 hour delay. I'd strongly recommend they bring their own pushchair.

The things you may need to borrow are a cot (or travel cot) and a car seat. We have all these things if you are planning a trip down, though I dare say someone in Scotland will be able to sort you out (if not Sandrine may have friends from her anti-natal classes in Linlithgow that can).

I'd better get the spare bed finished sanding, re-stained, and re-erected then!! :D

I might have a Maclaren folding push chair but it's erh, pink. lol

I know I definitely have the 3 wheel buggy style "pram" (below) that you could borrow if you're stuck.

Cheers Jen that would be magic. I dont care what colour it is. It will be my bro pushing it lol.
He could bring one over with him but its a hassle and quite expensive as classed as excess baggage. Looks more purple than pink though.

I'll get it out the loft and you can come and see it if you want, it's a decent size, easy to push and good for that age group.

No rush, he's not here till july, didnt expect such a rapid response.

well, you can come and look at it and decide if it's too big - if it is you'll need to keep looking. lol It's a proper pram, not a particularly foldable lightweight buggy/stroller.

Marc

May be able to assist with a folding buggy, smallish and lightweight that folds fairly flat, but it may for sprogs a wee bit older than 8 months - Fenjer's number above may be better for micro-urchins - I can't really remember what age they shift from one type to another although unless they are really wee then most things are probably ok for holiday use.

I think I may have a travel cot too if that would be of use.

Let me know if either are of assistance and I can check that we still have them - there's been a lot of decluttering in the last couple of years!

As usual the org comes through. I'll speak to my brother and find out what he needs / can use. They're over for 3 and a bit weeks in july so should be good.
I got a row from his mum when was in the states as i took him for a walk and he had shorts on, well i had shorts on so why not him? aparently babies feel the cold.... who knew.

Theres nothing micro about my nephew. was about 10lb at birth and straight into 3 month clothes. he's 7 months now and wearing 9-12 month stuff. He's already grown out of his first car seat.

Can't beleive airlines are charging excess baggage for pushchairs now. Its difficult enough travelling with young kids. When Euan was young they had started charging for baggage separately, but the pushchair was the one thing that remained free of charge and didnt contribute to the weight limits.

Yep full fare for his seat on the plane (7 months old) his pushchair is outside the stated dimensions for baggage so is charged as excess. Plus the fares have skyrocketed due to the olympics being on.

Money grabbing barstewards, who is that, Continental?

If they are having to pay for a seat for him rather than allowing him to be classed as 'in a parents lap' then contact the airline and see if they can have bulkhead seats with a cot which hangs on the bulkhead in front of them. When we flew continental, we got bulkhead seats in a row of three to ourselves with a cot, and we had only paid for 2 seats.
