Hi all,

I have been in the process of making some big changes to my k4 naked over the last few months and have had some very helpful information from fellow orgers to help me along. And I thought I would post some before/after pictures of the SV and help anyone that may be attempting the modifications themselves as I was helped with mine.

I bought the Sv off fellow org member bbadger back in February. One thing I always wanted to do to my previous SV's was a GSXR front end conversion. I have owned a 1999 naked curvy and a K5 Sv sport previously but unfortunately never got round to doing the mods.

Here are some pictures of the bike as it was when I bought it.

As you would agree it was a good looking bike before and had some very tasteful mods done to it by its previous owners.

Here are some pictures taken today after the work I have completed do far.

I am currently fabricating a new link pipe as this is for a GSXR and won't fit yet.

Few other little bits to tidy it up too.

What's your thoughts guys and girls?

Cheers for reading though.

Hi Al,

I got a GSXR speedo sensor and fabricated a bracket to fit on the left hand fork leg mudguard mounts. Then I got four magnets and mounted them with JB weld to the disk rivets.

It took abut of tweaking to get it right but it works in the end

The top yoke was from a guy in America had to get it shipped over. He is actually a org member his username is gjscott. It wasn't cheap but I would recommend it to any one who was doing the conversion because it fits perfectly without any dramas an it looks like the original too.

The Hesa was from a website called just bandits Funny enough lol. It is a very smart looking unit and bright too. You do have to cut a solder onto the Svs block connector tho as the plug that comes with it does not fit but it's no biggie really.

Would love to do this to mine but would also like the original clocks to be as yours are....do you mind me asking how much that top yoke cost(expensive i imagine). The whole bike looks much more up to date, very nice job mate!!

The yoke itself was around £140 but once I had paid shipping cost and import duty tax it was about £190. But defiantly worthwhile, beats using a GSXR top yoke and drilling holes etc to mount your risers. And the clocks and ignition barrel fit just like they do with the standard SV top yoke.

Has the yoke fella got a website or was it all done by pm here?

This is his website, you will also find his email address there too, that's the best way to reach him.
His name is Graeme, give him a shout for some prices I'm sure he will help you out. Just be aware that you will have to pay import duty tax on top of anything he ships over to the uk. I didn't realise and got stung for a extra £45 from HM customs :(

hi Hopper, luv the USD forks, how hard were they to fit. U mentioned a custom made top yoke?

hi Hopper, luv the USD forks, how hard were they to fit. U mentioned a custom made top yoke?

They were actually pretty straightforward. The K6 GSXR 750 bottom yoke uses the same headstock bearings etc as the standard Sv items so its just a case of removing the standard bits and replacing with GSXR bits. The hardest part of the fork conversion was sourcing all the bits that work together that were also in good condition but there is plenty about. It would be more ideal if you could find someone who has a complete front end rather than buying bits separately like I did but either way works.

As for the custom top yoke see my last post in this thread for a website link. This part is not essential as you can use the GSXR top yoke too but the custom machined one has provisions for the standard clocks to be mounted and it looks exactly like the original Sv one so I would highly recommend it.

Thanks mate, yea defiantly would recommend a GSXR front end it improves the handling ten fold plus it looks really good too :) if u need any more info feel free to give me a shout.
