View Full Version : GSXR750K1 Forks...which yokes to fit to SV?
Just bought some K1 750 usd forks....what yokes can i use with them so i know what too look out for! Cheers.
Al
Anyone know if the gsxr1000 k7 will fit?
Al
if your on about the yokes then no they wont fit k1 gsxr 750 front forks.
part of the fun of doing the swap is finding out what goes where and what fits what. research is the key or are you the type that likes to cheat at exams :-)

This is a very helpful guide that I used a lot.
However the forks you have bought are non radial. Personally I would say of you are going to bother doing the swap then get radial forks from 04 onwards GSXR's. That means you can use radial callipers and master cylinder which provides better braking. The radials look better too. But that is just my opinion, unless you got the k1 forks really cheap I would prob put them back on eBay and look for some radial forks.
Cheers for the link Hopper....yeah got them for £70 so thought for the price they would be a good upgrade.

Ahh yea fair enough that's not a bad price. You will need to look for k1 1000 GSXR yokes as the k1 GSXR fork diameter for the bottom yoke is smaller than other years. You will also need brake callipers of a k1 GSXR 1000 or possibly tl1000 but you will need to do some research to be sure. Don't forget you also need to change the front wheel, mudguard and get the correct diameter disks you will also need the correct clip ons as I wouldn't recommend drilling a GSXR top yoke to fit risers.
Yeah i'm aware that i basically need to swap everything but just going to get a bit at a time till i have everything then do the swap....thought i would be able to drill the top yoke to fit my renthals so thats now another problem to solve!!

i wasn't being ignorant when i said to do your homework, i was making sure that by reading lots of threads that you end up competent at the end and not just taking someone's word that this and that fits.
yes i could more than likely tell you what fits where and with what but that has taken me a few years to get the information in my head.
the above link is the best place to start and gives you almost all the information you need. ok so the matrix's don't go down to k1 750's etc.etc. but they are effectively the same wheels yada yada.
put a list together of parts that you think will go together then we can talk business
:)
Its okay mate, i see where you are coming from;). I have done a few searches on "srad fork swap" "gsxr forks" and god knows what else and had some useful info, but one of the problems is you start reading a thread and then there is that much input and variations on different bits that go with this and then wont fit with that and it all gets a bit....much!
Just swapped my engine as the bike i bought had been run with no oil and buggered the main bearings and after getting it up and running i find the handling is terrible!!....used to my R1 that i had before which was awesome. Anyway i saw these K1 forks on ebay and got them pretty cheap so figure it would be a reasonable upgrade. The reason i asked about the K7 yokes is i had stuck them in my ebay and tonight when i got in from work they only had a couple of hours to go and were only up to a fiver so thought i might get a quick answer on here:)...which i did and thanks.
I don't mind doing a bit of research, in fact quite enjoy it, so i'll get back to doing that right now in an attempt to find some way of fitting my renthal bars:confused: ;). Cheers for you're input mate.

Might be pointing out the rather obvious here but the best yokes and everything else would be... (drum roll)... GSXR750-K1 ones!
They drop straight into pointy frame, and everything fits.
Don't be tarty with radial brakes, £70 is bargain for those forks, the internals are pretty good as standard and can be made absolutely mustard.
And to top it off even the 4 pots as fitted to the 600 and 750 K1 will easily produce enough stopping power to rip your chin off.
Oh and yes, drill the yokes. Put some chunky ally plates underneath to spread the load, works fine.
Cheers YC...my thoughts exactly regarding the radial brakes, i would have them if money was no object but i'm sure the ones i can fit to these forks will be more than adequate. I have been looking for K1 yokes but none have turned up at the right price yet so will possibly look out for K1-3 1000 ones as i think they are more or less the same. Cheers.

I think i now know why these forks were cheap.....the seller described them as having a mudguard mount broke. They have turned up needing seals(not too bothered would have give them a refresh anyway) but my main concern is that none of the compression or rebound adjusters click when turned so i guess they are all knackered! I'm not impressed so will be sending the seller an email to ask why this was'nt stated in the description.

Now my memory is pretty bolloxed at best, but should they? The 600Y-K3 certainly don't.
Nonclicky adjusters can still work too. Do they have a couple of turns of motion in between the needle seat and stop? Should be 2 or 3 turns.
Well thats what i was thinking Chris....they all turn freely enough about two or three turns like you say. Would it make a difference if they had no weight on them cos they aint in the bike yet.

Would'nt be worth me taking it to any of my mates as its me who repairs all there bikes. All my other bikes have had clicky adjusters so never had to query this before!

Nope.
They need needle tower there to push it to right place to make a click, IIRC they can unscrew from rod which interrupts click.
But if you can feel needle bottom then there is no problem.
