Do they not know it is the middle of the night.

Just opinionated due to a lack of kip.

I'd shoot them sky rats but the neighbours would complain. I suppose to sort out the problem I should shoot the neighbours (and daughter) who put out bird food to encourage them in the first place.

They don't sing with their mouths full of food Tim :-P

Don't worry Tim, only four weeks to go and the nights will start drawing in again so the chorus will start a bit later each day...

Cos that wouldn't get them laid (the birds themselves not eggs!) on the basis of who can shout loudest, bit like being in town on a saturday night :)

Its lovely to hear at that time

When I worked nights and all the birds were twittering it was over halfway through the 12 hrs and almost hometime.

Even if it was 3.30 am!

I like waking up to the dawn chorus. If I weren't ready to wake up they wouldn't wake me up.

I like the way you take on nature.

I doesn't wake me up, never has. Mind you, when I was a student the house next door but one caught fire. The fire engine was parked practically outside my window and they'd been there about 2 hours, with the blues still flashing, before I finally woke up!

lol only problem with this heat is having to leave the windows open overnight, i'm a light sleeper and get woken up as soon as they all open their beaks, thankfully trying to work out what's singing what is what sends me back to sleep :-P

Simple tip here, get yourself a bird of prey. When ever we take Alby out into the garden, the song birds get somewhat quieter. It is a strange experience, but a peaceful one. The only down side is that Alby poos every ten minutes and the smell is appalling. ;-)

Even more spooky is a solar eclipse:
Bats come out
Birds shut up & go in

I have somewhere a photo of a kestrel taking a skyrat apart on my lawn. Messy devil never cleaned up after herself.

As a kid, we rescued 3 from an abandoned nest. Pampered bird wouldn't eat unless we plucked the pigeon we were feeding them on first.
