....with a choice of the following cars:

Lamborghini Gallardo
Ferrari 360
Aston Martin V12 Vantage
Porsche 911
Audi R8

I know which one I am tending towards, but what would you choose and why.

Initially I'd say 911 because they've always been my dream car, but I'd prefer to be the owner/buying the first one I drove to "properly" live the dream.

So I'd go with the Aston - simply cool as feck and twice as sexy as any of the others.

lambo..just so you can say you raced one :)
then ferrari and r8

Well, the Lambo and Audi are essentially the same car. The 360 isnt as good as either of them 2, so for me it would be a toss up between the Porker and the Aston with the Aston possibly nudging it. Nothing better than hooning round at silly speeds in a gentlemans posing pouch.

Sadly though like all these exeprience days, although fun, they do clamp down on speed/revs/gears etc. I did an M3 day a while back.

I want to see a Hypercar day. Koeinigsegg, Pagani, Aventador etc. Much more fun :)

Aston

I've driven a couple of 911's so whilst that would be my first pic, I would like to drive the Aston to try it and the others on that list dont really appeal to me.

I'm really surprised at the results of this so far. Aston would have been bottom of the list for me.

Ferrari, nah, always seem a bit poncy
Porsche, are you an estate agent or something?
Audi? Only if you're a drug dealing floppy from bradford innit.

Aston, followed by lambo.

Driven the aston and its a disappointment the lambo and Audi are not involving enough. I don't like the ferrari but would pick it from that list

I had a similar day a few years ago. I drove a 911 and a 360.

The 911 was the better car as the handling was so much fun but it was quiet and comfy.

The 360 though, with the roof down and the mahoosive air box right by your head and a stonking V8 behind you was the better experience.

The traction control on the Audi will be set to sterile and the Aston is for old people.

I would go Fezza and Lambo.

I drove the Aston last year - for a 'gentleman's tourer' it bloody shifts, and stops pretty well - a lot better than the Bentley Conti I also drove.

I have had no issues on any of the track days I have done with being 'restricted' by gears/revs/speed - the instructors had no issues with me caning it, in fact they positively encourage you to drive the cars to the best of your ability.

If you get the chance to do a lap with an instructor driving a KTM X-bow R then do it - my instructor was mental in that thing, I spent most of the time going sideways laughing my tits off.

Oh, and if had the choice of cars that you have -I would go for the gayardo.

Aston, followed by lambo.
. . followed VERY closely ( & not for long ) by our very own Joe Marcon. cos he'll be better by then.

Ditto, particularly the day I spent at the Bedford Autodrome. Was encourage to go faster and faster and told not to worry about spinning off.

Aston is a GT so maybe on the A road but not track. Lambo is mental. 911 - fast but not special. 360, just to say you have. I'vwe driven a 996 and 997 911 and a Vantage. R8 then Lambo for me

I had an experience day last year. 3 cars, I chose Aston first because I have always liked them and was fun. Lambo sounded awesome and power was good but the Ferrari just stuck to the tarmac and went. If I was to buy one it would still be the Aston.

I chose the Lambo. Dare to be different in the world of supercars. I don't much care for Porkers, nothing more than glorified Beetles. Ferraris are becoming more common, Audis are driven by ***** and Astons are for golfists.

Edit: As for the obligatory Kiethd you're on yer own mate.

To own, it'd be the Aston every time - I'm not sure there's a finer looking bit of 4-wheeled machinery that would look better than that sat outside my house.

But, to kick it's face in round a race track..?

Ferrari or the 911 for me I think.

Lambo or Aston... :D

The Lambo & R8 are not "essentially the same car". They share some interior parts and build quality parts but are fundamentally different. And so is the driving experience. 911 will be too refined for restrictive playtime; the Aston will bore you unless you get your thrills from admiring a plush interior and comfortable ride (in which case try a Merc and you'll get the same results); Ferrari is better performance than the Aston, so:

Lambo for exclusivity;
Ferrari because its a Ferrari (and its more fun than an Aston);
Porchse/R8.

jambo

Lambo, because it's the only one with machine guns and fins and rocket launchers.

Jambo

Well I think the poll reaches the same conclusion I had myself. I will be going for the Gayado. The order of preference for me was:

Lambo
R8
Ferrari
Porsche
Aston

The Porsche and the Aston were last on the list as they seem more attainable. There is a possibility of ownership (years down the road after years of depreciation), whereas the others are just out of reach. The ferrari came in third as it is "only" an old 360. Sheesh! That is like 2 generations old now. Pauper. The R8 always gets great reviews and may be dynamically superior to the Gallardo....but it ain't a Lambo....and as Jambo says "it's the only one with machine guns and fins and rocket launchers".

So there you have it.

Porsche 911 what... you can buy the bottom spec porsche for not a lot and it's slow... a GT3 RS or Turbo however would be fun, but still attainable.

Aston and R8 are boring.

Which leave the Ferrari and Lambo.

If I was going to buy something, it would be the Lambo... hopefully before I'm 35 lol. It's fast, subtle and sounds amazing.

For just playing about in, the Ferrari has the noise, the rawness, the drama... so that's what I'd pick.

Says it for me...

My huge lotto win will see an Aston on the drive.
