View Full Version : Wiring in multiple accessories?
I currently have a cigarette lighter socket, heated grips, charging lead and air horn all wired in directly to the battery with individual in-line fuses. I'm about to add another set of wires for a direct connection from the R/R and would like to tidy it all up a bit.
It seems pretty straightforward to get another small fuse holder and have that between the accessories and the battery, but what's the best way of dealing with all the -ve wires?

You could remove the main earth connector from the battery to the loom, splice in another spade/bullet and run them all into that.
When joining a lot of wires I run splices down the length of the run of wire, rather than just have a big ball of solder and black nasty... the bit of loom then lies flat. If you solder the connectors and use adhesive backed heatshrink the resulting connections are really robust.

Go to breakers, buy old SV fuse board.
Splicing in to the main earth is probably the simplest - I just have a slight aversion to mucking about with the stock wiring. No major reason for this other than not wanting to break anything, and also I like being able to undo any changes I make without leaving wiring/splices.
The fuse panel is pretty much what I was looking for. I quite like the Eastern Beaver one though I may look at building one myself - looks easy enough to do, the trick would be making it small.
Probably a stupid question, but does the SV fuse board have -ve connections?

No just live.
Generally with most fuse boards all -ve are common and return to ground.
