Fitting an end can, how? Yet again.

Hiya i was just wondering if any of you out there has dealings with changing your stock SV650S Exhaust for aftermarket slip ons ? i have an 09 SV650S and am hoping to get a new exhaust just wondering if anyone could give me directions on far down after the tailpipe to cut and so on etc. plus any little tricks and tips

any help would be much appreciated Cheers :)

It should say something somewhere on the paper you get with the new slip on, on where to cut (Delkavic do) I used a grinder, bit of an **** as even the smallest size won't fit. Cut down till the grinder was deemed useless then hacked sawed the rest, filed the burrs off the end, start the engine and give it a small blast to get rid of the muck from cutting/filing. Get new one ready, get yourself some exhaust sealant be generous on amount you use. Slip it on, tighten the jubilee clips. Wham, bam, thank you mam! :)

on an k9 i would recommend that you unplug and remove the lambda sensor before cutting as they are delicate little things and you really don't want to know the price of a new one.

60mm up from weld, put some masking tape round the pipe so the edge of the tape is on your line, this gives you a good mark to cut along.

the best way is to take the whole exhast off and do it. that way there is no fear of damaging/scraping anything.

I fitted a Fuel to mine today, I don't have a grinder / cutter so I used a £4 B&Q junior hacksaw + some 32 teeth/inch blades (took about 30 mins and used two blades)

I used a reciprocating saw, took next to no time to go through the exhaust, can pick them up dead cheap for simply house DIY things and always useful.

What size did you fit? I'm thinking of getting either a 350mm or a 400mm but not decided yet.

That doesn't really show the sound too well, it's an improvement to the stock exhaust, however without the baffle I think it sounds a bit too antisocial for my liking.

Tip - Don't use tape to mark where you are going to cut, use a jubilee clip! keeps you nice and straight. Cut mine thru' with angle grinder and a new disc then finished off with hacksaw. Put a big sheet of cardboard behind exhaust / in front of bike to protect and not get dust from grinder all over yer shiny bike.

Thanks All for your help and advice i bought a nice Stainless fuel can and was very simple to fit, also improves the sound an awful lot brilliant now, still got the baffle in but it might get removed sumday haha cheers for the advice

Hiya i went for the Mini 350mm Oval Stainless sweet exhaust i highly recomend this one if you are thinking of a new exhaust if i knew how to upload a pic on here i would lol to show you al keep trying tho
