Awesome pics mate, love the first one. What lens you using for them? just trying to gauge the distances. Also where did you see the Typhoon? would love a crack at a few pics of that.
Thanks for sharing :)

There's something very cool about a huge Herc low in a valley!
You at Marham?

Awesome pics. Never seen a Typhoon before with a "pillion." Bit of a fatty from that angle.

There was a pair of Typhoons hooning about above Chesham in Bucks a couple of weeks back when I was test driving my new car. Very distracting. Low fly exercise, something to do with olympic protection preparations.
Great pics Pete.

What kit were you using Pete? (Showed these to a couple of photography nuts at work and they asked me to find out - one is also a plane nut and would like an idea of good areas to go (if not actual (locations) where he could have a chance of spotting some :)
search online for the mac loop and CAD East/West. They publish low fly timetables.

The alarming ones are the AH64's, they just seem to appear over the brow of a hill looking rather sinister, which is probably why they're called Apaches. :)
The idea was you wouldn't see them in time to be alarmed... especially if you drove one of these to work:

Great pics!!!
Well done!
Great images Pete, love the Herc one, its a MK4 I beleive, Ive flown in a few Hercs over the years and work on them quite regularly these days too, well, I say work on em ive had to roll change em from a flat floor variant to passenger and cargo roll which usually involves tons of swearing and sweating trying to get the bloody seats unrolled and put into place, top aircraft the Herc though.

Fantastic pictures!
We get quite a few of them up here in Nidderdale, being fairly close to Leeming and Linton-on-Ouse. A dozen or so Tucano's practising formation flying a couple of weeks ago, getting ready for graduation day. :)
Probably practicing the ' 60 ' formation for the flypast

There are a few "twin stickers" around that allow pilots to be assessed. We have a couple here at Leuchars at the moment as 6 Sqn will be the display team for this year and the pilot flying had to be assessed by someone prior to going solo. They are also very good for getting a "back seat" if you are lucky enough ;) and work on the sqn :smt112

Just resurrecting this thread as this popped up on my Facebook feed, in flight video of Typhoon low flying including past Cad East / West in the Mach Loop. Watch full screen and 1080 HD, it's fantastic!

It's a cracking video! At the bit where he's low level and pulls the 4G left turn, the hill to his left is the Bwlch, one of the best photography spots in the loop. After that, it's between Cad East and West and over the lake for the left turn around Corris corner.
It's been very quiet over there recently though. Defence cuts and changes to training has seen a drop off of jets in the valleys.
There's a promise of an MC130 and a current Hercules this Friday. They're slated to be low level 13.15 to 13.45.
Good luck if you go!
Pete ;)
I went to the mach loop last year. Hung around for 2 hours and saw nothing so headed back. The second I closed the car door a plane flew over, was only a little prop thing. I think if it was a typhoon I'd have killed myself

Awesome vid. All that commentary being given, does that tend to be standard procedure for a normal flight, standard checks and such?
