Hi All

I recently bought some hid lights, I've been wanting them for a while and just won a claim so why not.

I'll upload all my pics of how I fitted them.

Did you have to bake the light, so that you could take it apart? And then fit the halo and new light inside?

a few of questions mate, as i have been thinking of doing the projector idea myself.

1) where did you buy them?
2) how do you manage to get them central? im assuming unless you get them perfectly level and twisted the right way the beam pattern will be wrong.
3) how long did it take? fancy doing mine? lol
finally, have you got any nigh pics witht them in so we can see the difference? ive got HIDs but wonder how the projector will help.

many thanks

Hey people,

Thanks for the comments, the seat is so comfy, it's a beauty on long rides now.

They took a while to fit and yes you do unclip it but it also has loads of glue you have to melt, I'll try and get some night pictures done tonight, when you fit the lights you tighten them up then the actual chrome fitting thing has slight adjusters on, mine aren't fully inline as I couldn't be bothered after spending so much work on it, I'll get it done soon tho, it's not hard to line. I have a switch to turn the halos on and off.

Thanks again for the good comments

Chris

Let us know how you get on with the mot. I was looking to get a H4 hid kit for my car but apparently they are not road legal. A link was posted to the DOT website, they don't work correctly with the reflector in the light unit. Only way to get HID is to fit a specific HID unit to your vehicle.

Phil there is nothing special about the kit in the second listing apart from the supplied loom has been modified slightly. they are the exact same as the car ones but they have modified the loom supplied to make it shorter.

tbh at £150 i could supply a complete proper plug and play with pointy specific loom at that price or more than very likely a loooot cheaper. talk about ripping people off, crazzzzzy price for cutting and crimping but i suppose there is one born every min.

I have to admit, I did think it was a bit steep for a modified motorcycle HID kit. It only appears to have modified (shorter and flatter) cable and I think it has a special bracket for mounting the projector in the headlight housing. I don't mind modding my own stuff but a severe lack of time at the moment means I'll quite happily take the easy route to avoid having to do anything!

If you can put together a kit, I'd definitely be interested. I shall take this convo to pm!

so does the pointy headlight reflector scatter the beam pattern with a hid or projector fitted?

Id like to fit a non hid projector, although those halos look awesome!!!

Im assuming those hid projectors shown in earlier posts have a mount bracket not shown in the pics?

cheers, Lee

What are the red bits for?
They look like trick brake lights more than anything - surely inviting an accident?

No it doesn't its crap. It's just a massive beam, no pattern, but I got angry with car drivers blinding me so I left them. They just fit into the original slots, you don't have to make anything

The downside with the pointy light is that suzuki didnt do an oem projector light like they did with euro curvies. That was simple to make into a uk spec projector light.

So has anyone done a decent pointy projector install with the correct beam pattern?

Lee I think you are confusing "projector" with "HID". Or am I missing something?

the halos are basically projector lights (the glass magnified ball) with hid kit fitted arent they?

Id like to fit projector lights to a pointy and just wondered how well they fit and work seeing as the unit is meant for H4 bulbs.

phil24_7
04-01-13, 10:12 PM
The projector is the ball type lens unit. They can be either standard halogen or HID but both are projectors. The halo is the small ring around the lens that lights up, the same as BMW standard fit HID lights.

Projectors will always give a perfect flat beam, HID or halogen. Like phil says halo's are the sidelight style lights that go around the main light.

Galviniser has fitted HID projector lights with red halos. If you mean you want to fit normal HID's with no projector to a standard faired sv light unit, speak to bibio as that's what he has and has a good beam pattern.

I found with My Dig-T that bending the addaptor fpr the H4 mount got the light source in the right position ...eventualy.
It was a roal pia though.
But if you want a set of lights so you can see on the back roads its worth the greif.
I'v even had to take the back off one HID ,as it didnt move properly to its main beam position ,due to the wires not being fitted corectly.
They do run Hot! I removed the rubber seal on the back of the lamp ,But its still showing some dicoleration close to the bulb.

was interested to know how the projector lense fitted to the headlight, as the hid part is surely the ballast, lamp wiring etc, does the hid shown in galvanisers pics simply fit into an ordinary projector assembly (modded from h1 to hid lamp)

Ive had hids fitted to a previous car so ok with whats a hid and whats a projector (the car had projectors as standard). Id like to see how the units fit into a pointy headlight and whats mods were required, brackets, covering the reflector to avoid the light scattering etc.

Sorry for the confusion with my question ;)

I would like a guide?? On how to.
I know it is not Road legal, but like the look so mutch and you get mutch more light.
What kind of mods do you have to do, to the pointy headlight, cutting, baking, ect.???
If i would like a projector with halo's, could i get a halogen and just plug in normal sv bulbs in? Or is it with balast and everyting? Do i stil get the greater strenght in light.

If you have a white halo it would be legal .
Don't listen to rumors about hid's being illegal .
Badly set up fazzeling the on coming driver is bad form.
Fit a quality kit get it aimed properly and Mr Mot can't fail it fact .
