Hi all,

I am after a bit more acceleration so i am going to alter the gearing.I have a few questions.
1) On previous 600 sports bikes i have gone -1 tooth on the front and +2 on the rear.Based on searches on the forum it seems that most people do one or the other. Is too much to go -1 +2 on the sv?

2) On that basis should i go for a 14t front sprocket or say a 48t on the rear?

3) On previous bikes when i have altered the gearing i have had to buy a speedohealer,is that necessary on the sv?

Thankyou

Speedo drive/sensor is on front wheel not gearing.

Keep 15t at front for sake of chain wear, IMO.
Do you do any miles or is it a toy?

-1 +2 is a big jump, will be very annoying and high rpms on motorway. I had 47 on back, it was noticeably higher revving on motorway but good for twisties.

No real miles,7 miles to work and back, the rest is country lanes or city riding.

I went to a 47 on the rear, more wheelies, more revs, less mpg and very slightly less top speed.

I'm on 47 too. 100mph wheelies are interesting :smt077

Too big a jump IMO, leave the front and go up 1,2 or max 3 teeth on the rear.

i was thinking 48t on the rear then,I would imagine my chains pretty worn so i reckon it would probably fit straight on.Then if its any good i'll replace the chain and front sprocket.

where would i get a 48t sprocket from?
