If its dry I will be out fettling with my new shock. Don't fancy trying a new shock in the wet! Could be up for a bimble somewhere if you fancy it?
Potential new recruit so be nice.
Keep your eyes open for a new recruit to the Empire. Lisa (yes, a girl) has been directed to our little corner of the internet so will hopefully say hi soon. Be nice!

I'm sure you can buy tax discs 15 days before the end of the month and they don't start till the 1st of the next month? Is that still true or did they change it while I was away?

I checked on the direct gov website earlier and it's 2 working days before the end of the month if you've not got the reminder or if it's been SORN

Afternoon. We in the Soho Massive have a very low key Crimbo Celebration in Ye Olde London Towne each year and are currently deciding on a possible date. We do permit the Essex types to join us so perhaps GM might like to come along too. However I should warn you that our parties do feature women and often some JBA.

I've discovered that the temperature gauge on the ace doesn't work so I'd appreciate it if you could bring that manual down to the rideout with you Nathan?
Thunderace
13-10-12, 06:40 PM
It probably does it's just the engine don't get much over 60 degrees when not in traffic, this is due to some problem with the thermostat. I read some waffle about it on a Thunderace forum it does get hot but doesn't show on the gauge, also beware heavy traffic/traffic lights etc if you don't filter through and keep moving the engine will get mighty hot, due to the switch for the fans not coming on until 105 degrees, unless one of the previous owners has changed it.
A cheap fix/replacement though so don't panic.
I'll stick the manual in my jacket tomo.

Cheers man, I'd rather have it for some light reading anyhow.

Rather than risk derailing your "my car's sad" thread to which I've hopefully already provided the correct answer :)
Just stick a long bendy stick with a rag on it up the exhaust. Keep pushing and wriggling and twisting it until it pops out of the air intake just behind the radiator. That should do it.
If you find it difficult, just add more speed. Easiest way is to get an assistant such as Jammy to hold the stick & rag device carefully aligned to the exhaust. Drive forward 30-40 feet, put it in reverse and floor it. If all goes well and everything lines up just right then the rag and stick should stall the engine just before you run Jammy over.
If the stopping bit runs a tad late, then Jiff and a new rag will wipe Jammy off the back of the car and you should start again with a more accurate assistant.
If you take the car with you on Saturday then Thunderace should have a whole clump of accurate assistants in his garden for the BBQ.
Happy to help.
PS, I've just had a thought given his diminutive stature perhaps you could just send Jammy up the exhaust with a head torch fitted like the old Victorian chimney sweeps. Really should have considered that first.
