Mad, the Indians in the call centre are still going to call whatever his name is.

Much easier to get an answering machine with call screening, they never leave a message or talk on it, so i dont answer my phone.

Anybody who has my home number that knows me would just say pick up if youre in and id answer it.

I could change my name to something cool i suppose, like Max power or Don kiddic or Seamore butts.

We don't use our land line so i always answer by being silent (the automated cold calling computers hangup) then if i get someone saying 'hello' I reply hello.

If this 'person' turns out to be someone cold calling who asks for me by name, I politely tell them I'm not interested.

HOWEVER....

I often get calls for a 'Mr May'.
These people get the special treatment.

'Is that Mr May?'
'No, is that Mr. May?'
'No I wanted to speak to the house holder'
'No I wanted to speak to the house holder'.
(at this point some get the idea and hang up).
'Is Mr May there?'.
(turn tv up loud and shout to imaginary Mr May in background, then leave reciever next to tv for about 2 mins).
'Hello....Is that Mr May?'
(persistent little so and so).
'Congratulations, you have won the Mr May Lottery. Please press 1 for Mr May, press 2 for Mr May alternatively hang up for Mr May'.

So far i have only had one 'caller' win the Mr May lottery, the others worked out I'm not Mr May and don't appreciate this method of cold calling.

There has never been a Mr May at this address (possibly a recycled phone number?) so find it odd we get calls for him (may be a scam?).

We also subscribe to the telephone preference scheme and I find reminding callers of this gets them to hang up pretty quick. :smt023

I ignore 50% of my calls because they're from unknown numbers. If it's someone important, they will leave a message. Can't be bothered to shine them on, as fun as it may be ... but ... I just remembered an old vid. This is an awesome example of screwing them over ...
