Compaired to the other areas , this one seems to have died a death. Now I know its a hugh area but cant we atleast try and get some life into it.
I live in the north of the area so how about a pub meet around the Bristol ish area or just across the water every couple of weeks.
Any thoughts?

Would love to have some meets again. Used to be every week. We have a local pub that does a bike night on Wednesdays and very good, but cheap burgers too.

Still want to make it Poole one Tuesday though :-)

This area is not dead it is simply "Stunned". And if anyone suggest that it has been "Nailed to its perch", you're wrong; its just "Pining for the fjords".

I don't think so. At least not after you and Lyn have been round to sample the results of something Stretchie and I are in the middle of making ;-)

Well I am pretty new on here.
Happy to travel a few miles for a brew, good company and an "off the van" quality burger (though I do need a couple of omeprazole afterwards these days)
Mind you, the weather has been particularly ****.
New SV is beginning to feel quite smooth now - though I wonder if it could do with another 30-50 hp.
Oh well, cheap insurance and improved survival chances!

Welcome DrewDrew :-)

Well, you're a fair old way form Wiltshire, but I hail from the land of God so I am always up for going home for a meet. We used to go to meets at the Tredegar Arms near Caerphilly but since we lost the one member that was always on at us to make the effort, we have all gotten a bit lazy about it.

Still, I'm sure a brew and some good food could be organised if you ever did want to venture this way :-)

How about Paignton every Wednesday evening from now till September - under BMAD Paignton. :D

wow, thats a fair way away.
perhaps the forum region is too big and should be split?

We've been through the splitting the section up before conversations and I dont want to split one big section and then create two or three smaller sections that then dont get used. The section covering a huge area isnt the problem, its the lack of people organising stuff that is.

It used to work, but as GG says, its was mainly due to one person organising things and setting up meets and then badgering the rest of us to turn up.

Somebody needs to put their c*ck on the block and organise a rideout or two and then things will start to get busier again.

I do keep posting about Weston Bike Night, but despite having lived down in Darkest Devon did not know about Paignton bike night. Let's get posting these events up, especially if they raise money for good causes. A couple of weeks ago when it was hot and sunny, (so even the pansys could ride!) we had 1030 bikes turn up on Weston Sea front, this week when it was a bit cold and rainy, we had 15!

Reminded me of this! :smt043

Not having a great sense of direction, I am pretty useless on ride outs, I even have to follow the wife if we go out around Weston half the time! However, I am sure that at some point I would love to do a ride out and meet more of you gorgeous folks, especially if there is a hog roast involved somewhere! I am not great at camping anymore due to worn out and damaged body parts, but I love riding my bike when I can. :brilsmurf:

right then...as a starting point , maybe we should try and arrange a meet at Weston Bike night for those close enough to make it.There are alot of new folks on here I have yet to meet.

Lol, just combination of having time, lack of fun on the road with **** roads so much traffic and running costs to do a few 000 miles a year.

The Ferry Inn wasn't a bad place to meet.. Unless it was raining, then it was horrible!
Or back to the Wellington in Brizzle? Many places to choose from...
As for ride outs, I ride like an old man now... So no one would want to go on anything I arrange! Plus several good roads in mid wales have been under a bit of water the past few weeks!

Runako

Right I'm back and ready to get riding again. The withdrawal from those french spanish roads has been ... painful. But I remind myself that I live in the Uk and there's nothing i can do about it so lets get riding.

Anyone organised anything for the weekends? Anything other than the midweek rideouts (which won't work for me)?

DrewDrew
30-06-12, 05:47 PM
Im happy to ride out at weekend. The roads are the roads, the traffic the traffic, and the weather the weather. I didnt buy a bike for it to sit in the garage (in fact ride to work every day on it whatever the conditions.). I love my SV. It seems the harder I treat it the sweeter it runs!

P.S. how was the video of the abber run?
