Behind the bar there was a card of big D nuts, as the bags were removed it revealed a picture of a bird with her norks out
You always had a filling when you went to the dentist, and you had to wait 20 minutes before the tooth went numb, and then about 4 hours for it to wear off by which time you had bitten a lump out of your lip
There were hardly any fat kids
Teachers were allowed to hit you
If you had a telephone it was in the hallway and it was too expensive to use anyway
Coke came in a steel tin and you could make a spinny whizzer thing out of the ring pull
If you had a paper round you got to look at porno mags
You only knew a few people who had been abroad for their holidays
Racing bikes had handlebars like goat horns
There was no M25, you had to go cross London using the north and south circular roads, but they wern't busy anyway
Car and motorbike tyres were very narrow
There were still old bombed out houses to play in
Fish and chips was cheap and there were loads of chippies
Storage heaters were massive and you could sit on them
Formula 1 was brilliant
Everyone listened to the top 20 on Sunday at 6pm with their finger hovering over the record button
The test card was on the the TV more than programmes
If you went for an interview you were offered a cigarette
You took stuff to the dump and just threw it on the pile, none of this 10 different bins and restricted items
Cars had proper ashtrays and seatbelts that had to be adjusted each time
All girls had long hair
Space hoppers, choppers, clackers, esso blue, green stamps, pink stamps, magpie, tiswas, knebworth, platform shoes, clockwork orange,
I do miss it a bit
A counting out god knows how many cigarette cards so mum could send off for a pair of candle sticks.
Building a bogie out of pram wheels and a plank.
Mum always being in when you got in from school.
Knitted swimming trunks that itched like 'ell when they got wet, and stretched down to your knees...

Playing a 33rpm record at 45 or even 78 rpm - sounded like a chipmunk on acid breathing in helium.
Taking glass bottles (ginger where I grew up Scotland - pop for the Engerlanders) back to the shop to get money back & spending it on a ha-penny chew.
Playing ding-dong skoosh (ringing doorbells & running away).
Using a clothes peg & some playing cards to rattle against your bike wheel spokes to make that awesome "motorbike" sound.
Dynamo bike lights that made any pedalling nigh on impossible & went out as soon as you stopped.
Stacking the record player speakers around a tape recorder to record your favourite records & then telling everyone else in the house to be quiet so that it wouldn't ruin your recording.
