So this morning before work I was having a cigerette with my pa and Yesterday channel was on so it was stories on WW2 and this and that and we was talking about it..
I then found out that Rudolf Hess (German Nazi who travelled to England to declare peace between England and Germany and got inprisoned a life sentence) was guarded by my uncle.
I'm so facinated now!
It's crazy how some of us know so little about our family tree and what they did!
P.S. R.I.P to my uncle - I'm sure you was an amazing person and an amazing soldier.

Surprisingly enough, the war wasn't between England and Germany. There were soldiers from Scotland, Ireland and Wales in the British Army who fought and died for their country.
Also, Hess didn't bail out over England. It was actually Scotland.
Interesting story, but please get your facts right. My grandad also fought in the war, and he wasn't English! Scottish, actually.

Yes, he did fly over to scotland to make peace.
Like I said, I know very little and I found out this morning. It just stunned me, that's all.
Via my two aunts I found out my great great granfather use to own about a lots of property in and around Chatham in Kent. Had disagreemetns with the rest of his family and so gave away or just left old houses and alike to who ever lived there at the time. So instead of being filthy rich Im just an ordenary person. I think I like being of normal standard rather than having a silver spoon stuck up my ****.

Thank god us brits didn't have to do so much, there'd have been no one left.

Britain = England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland.
England != Britain

I wouldn't know what to do if I was filthy rich.
If I had a lump sum of money - I'd think about my family i.e. buying them a nice house for them to live in, away from trouble. And also donate to cancer charities for my aunti who is suffering right now.
I don't think I'd like to be rich. I like being stable on my own money that I work for :)

Although, in the reasonably far past England and Britain have been used interchangeably to refer to british stuff.
Mostly by us english of course, back when the boot on the kneck of the rabble was much firmer :p

Well the numbering is misleading so why shouldnt the rest be.

As oppose to the scottish view which is when the english do badly they're useless and when the english do well they're useless.

I think perhaps they're concerned that so many "scottish" things are english or other countries inventions that they don't dare let us take credit for the stuff they really did.

Lovely.
No honestly, theres a few clouds and a bit of wind but it's warm and sunny for the most part.
I'm just waiting for the rain to turn up and get me out of cutting the lawn this evening.
In order to keep on topic I'd go so far as to call it stunning, possibly the sort of weather one would like to guard rudolf hess in if he were prone to long walks in the garden (that ok messie?).

Probably out of respect for all the non-English who fought and died in conflict. I'm not anti-English. My wife is English. I'm sure you'd put your foot down if constantly told in the media that Great Britain is really England.

according to most of the news papers and tv programs the war wasnt against the Germans....it was against the Nazis.....,,,,mmmmmm dont mention the war
My great grandad played for Southampton FC, it's true as well, we have a newspaper clipping!
My nan`s dad built and owned a whole load of houses on the Sandwich Road in.... Sandwich, Kent. He went crazy and signed it all over to a charity. He left his wife the house they lived in and that is it, its still all tied up until she dies and then it is all released.
Oh what it would be like to be rich... Back to work on Monday.

So true, never have tea in America, that is why they threw it all into Boston harbor, they had no idea what to do with the stuff.
Don't all have a go at me, I am just being silly, I do know it was all about taxes.
