granty92

Based in Bournemouth :) also does anyone know how I can get rid of my grab rail but keep the passenger seat

DJ123
24-06-12, 04:08 PM
Me and 2 others were over there yesterday.
Yes, unbolt the grab rail ;) then fill in the gaps with blanking plates

granty92

Probably saw me then, was cruising with my mate all day haha and any idea where I can get the plates from?

I'm from Poole if you are still about. Although I don't particularly like riding with others.

I'm from Christchurch and was wondering if there were others from my neck of the woods! I'm up for a ride out some time!

Just joined with my first sv. Lofted in Bournemouth, but can be seen all over. Always up for a ride, just need to get the hang of the vtwin!

hi troy, what colours your sv, ill look out for you :)

_Troy_

It's a naked curvy in yellow. It has two high level exhausts, which are obscenely loud due to the baffles falling out, officer.

Give us a wave or come say hello if you see me about.

Wow, nice to see some people in my area! I am in Poole/Bournemouth. Not a fair weather rider as cummute from poole to bournemouth for work, generally only do big rides when the weather is good. Sadly lacking of late!

Anyways, I am always up for a ride if the weather permits so if anyone in the area wants to meet up give me a shout!

Job, I feel sorry that you had to go to Boscombe! If you guys are coming through this way again let me know!

_Troy_
20-11-12, 10:58 PM
Ha, Pyro, I live in Boscombe. And yes, the bad part.

I actually see quite a few SVs in the area, but no idea what you all ride! My bike is distinctive I guess, so please don't be shy.

Haha, that narrows it down!! :p

Don't recall seeing you, although to be honest as a good 80% of my riding is commuting i am usually on auto pilot and dont notice anything!

Will try to keep an eye out for you! I am less distinctive, black pointy S LO, full fairing which seems to be rare now, think Suzuki stopped doing proper full fairing ones now.

If you are up for going for a little ride when there is some good weather give me a shout, me and my mates usually go for little bimbles through the forrest after a brekkie stop in town or in Bashley.

_Troy_
21-11-12, 10:05 AM
That would be great, but the weather may have to open up a bit first.

I ride mine every day,its my only transport. I'm usually on auto pilot too, but always on the look out. I've not seen another naked yellow curvy in the area, and mine has the benefit of two of the loudest exhausts I've heard, so you have no excuses!

PyroUK
21-11-12, 11:22 AM
Fair enough, will keep an eye out!

And pah, just needs to be dry!

I ride a faired yellow curvy and have a bright helmet. Will probably post in here in the new year for rides.

_Troy_
24-11-12, 09:16 PM
Yay, another yellow curvy. Where are you located then Morph?

Morph
24-11-12, 09:25 PM
I'm in Broadstone and ride locally daily as its my only transport other than when I'm with the mrs.
Where are you located?

_Troy_
24-11-12, 09:27 PM
Same for me, only transport. Mines a naked, and I'm in Boscombe, but I can be seen all over really. Give us a wave or come say hello if you see me

Morph
24-11-12, 09:33 PM
I'm always waving to bikers so it'd be good to wave to one for a reason haha. Will keep my eyes peeled!

_Troy_

Sounds like a plan! If you're ever up for a ride, let me know, always up for a good run.

PyroUK
24-11-12, 09:37 PM
haha, nice looks like you two are either side of me, should wind up seeing one of you eventually!

likewise i always give a nod to bikers, if you see me (black fully faired pointy) give me a shout.

hoping the weather picks up soon and can get some mileage on!

_Troy_
24-11-12, 09:40 PM
Maybe when the weather picks up we can organise a ride. Start in Poole Quay, as per lots of rides, and head out. Alternatively we've got the new forest on our doorsteps.

I've yet to see what the SV can do, so would be ideal for someone to show me.

cant wait to be bale to go for a good ol' blast rather than just the commute

Its a money saving scheme to be honest. The SV is pennies to insure compared to the ninja, especially at the grand age of 24!

Oh dear, where they all your fault?
I had a write off in may. Lucky it was a woman driver so in the eyes of the law, instantly her fault. Got a new Sv and a reasonably nice compensation pay out for it.

nope neither of them, 1st was on a roundabout, driver pulled out in front of me so i swerved to avoid them, (in hindsight i should have hit them) and came off. feckhead didnt stop so all on my insurance. got it repaired

second i was pulling into my works car park and girl went straight into the back of me and ran my bike over. wrote it off, i would have lost out if it wasnt for the errors made by the finance company so they gave me extra as compo lol

That first one sounds like a right pain! I agree in saying that if the options are: avoid a bad drivers and possibly wreck. Or hit the bad driver and walk away.
I'd take the hit everyday.

yeah, wasn't so much hit the driver and walk away more hit the driver and it clearly be their fault and insurance payout lol

I shall get a proper route done over the weekend, then we can decide dates in the future so everyone is free.

And if we find it works well as a ride-out I shall plan a bigger one :)

Hope I'm not teaching anyone to suck eggs but I thought I'd better ask. Is there anyone not familiar with the drop off system whilst on a ride?

granty92
14-03-13, 01:51 PM
drop off system?

ThePone
14-03-13, 03:01 PM
I have no clue.

Griff-SV
14-03-13, 03:17 PM
Right I shall try to explain.

When riding in a group you can use the drop off system to avoid people getting lost or left behind. Firstly the ride leader always stay at the front, as they will know the route. There is also a back marker who will always stay at the back of the group.

Now when approaching a left hand turn at a junction the leader will indicate to the rider behind, they will then stop just before the turning with the left indicator on. The other riders will carry on past following the leader. Once the back marker has caught the rider waiting they normally beep a couple of times on the horn and let the rider set off infront of them.
For right hand turns the waiting rider needs to position themselves on the road that the turn will take them on but in view of the other riders, and wait for the back marker again.

Next, when it comes to roundabouts, the waiting rider needs to position themselves at the relevent exit by the kerb. Wait for the other riders to pass, then move off once they get the beeps from the back marker.

So basically the order of riders bar the leader & back marker rotates throughout the ride.

I hope that made some sense, if not let me know and I shall draw up a diagram and send to whoever wants it :)
