Me and a mate are popping down to London to Hyde Park to see Soundgarden and a few others at the Hard Rock Calling gig . We are coming down by car , we are then heading back on the same day (Friday 13th July) ....... we need somewhere to stash his car so that we can get to it within reasonable time of leaving the park . What does the Org recommend ?

I'm there too.
Where do you head back to after?
Normally I would just get you a space inside Lord's but we're in Olympic lock down.

I'd suggest anywhere along the piccadilly line, one tube in and out then, gives you the choice of anywhere from Hammersmith to Holborn.
Cheers Mark.

We are coming right back to North Wales afterwards , I`m tempted to drop the car off at my mate`s place in Barking and tube it in but the problem we have is dependant on what time the gig finishes and what time the tubes run to . After having lived in London for 6 years I want to avoid leaving the car anywhere that has permits etc and even avoid London traffic completely as coming out of Hyde Park is gonna be a horror at best

Do you take the M4 into London? Do you know Kew/Richmond area, if so my suggestion would be park pretty much next to Kew Gardens tube station, then take the tube to Hammersmith then switch to the Picadilly line which should take you right there. The residents parking is Monday-Friday 10am-Midday. Worse case situation should you get stuck in town the N22 runs from Green Park, stops just past the Sainsburys. Its about 10-15 minutes walk to the tube station.
If your M1/M6 route I'd suggest parking in Harrow, the train is about 15 minutes to Euston (overland fast train, not underground) at the w/ends I have got the last train about 130am ish (I'd check though, its been a while since I lived there) again you can aviod residents parking, if thats better for you I'll have think where is best park if you want it free.
I can't really suggest anywhere else, I simply don't them in enough detail, anyways hope its a fun day out:D

I tend to come in via M1 , M25 then M11 down to the A406 and A13

Ah okay I do know that Stepney Green the residents parking ends around 1730 in the evenings, you can park on meters around there for something like £4/hour I think it is, for up too four on a meter. Its seems okay around there, however my mate that lives has a brick through the window. You can get a bus from central to there, should you need too not sure which one it is though. I have parked at Temple behind the underground station, that possiable from where you coming from, you need to register online with Westmister Parking though! Is that of any help?

Blimey, that's a long way round - the bottom of the M1 drops you right onto the A406. Though you don't even need to go along the A406 - if you go straight across it onto the A1 or A41 that will take you towards town.
What time do you need to be at Hyde Park for?

Well seeing as I usually pop in to see friends in Essex then it is the direct route for that . Starts at 4 in the afternoon from the looks of it . Might just be tempted to dump the car at a mates in Barking and tube it in and out .

If thats what you usually do then fair enough, though the tube train will take a quite a long time to get where you need to be, enjoy the gig:cool:

The main concern is getting back out and to the car in a reasonable time . If there was somewhere I could stash the car with no worries that was a bit local to the gig then it would have been the best of the situation . When I pop to the Manchester Apollo they open up 2 bits of scratty land and let you park on there with patrolled Security guards for a nominal fee . These multi storey car parks will charge a fortune and parking permits will cop you a fine .... plus congestion charge etc .......... just puts you off using a car before you even factor in pedestrians and other traffic . I used to blatt around London on the bike and be quite happy about it . Taking a car in would just have me chewing the sterring wheel whilst turning a nice shade of Pickled Beetroot

Oh there are plenty of places to park, but they cost. There is one car park I know of in Shoreditch that I think is about £10, can't remember if its in the congestion zone tbh.
Where I suggested in West London should work, the reason for that is becasue its closer to where you are going, second closer to where your coming and going too.
Totally understand about London, its nuts and a constant head f**k but we love it really here!
