I took delivery of the new bike last Thursday and have already done more miles on it in 3 days than I've managed on the SV all year.

It's a 2010 low suspension low seat F650GS, 798cc with ABS, on board computer, heated grips and 2800 miles on the clock with full 12 month BMW warranty. It was the demo bike at BMW up to 500 miles, then sold to an old bloke who bought it as a retirement present for himself and he then decided after less than 2000 miles that biking wasn't for him after all.

It's now known as Baby Beemer as I also own a slightly larger silver BMW of the 4 wheeled variety.

The bike felt fine in the wet on Saturday, even down backroads running with gravelly water, although I've discovered that the more upright riding position allows the rain to pool in my crotch leaving me with rather damp underwear that was never such an issue on the SV.

With room in the garage for both bikes I plan to keep the SV for shorter journeys and more use once my foot is less painful. The riding position is much more forgiving on my previously broken elbow and dodgy achilles. Just to freak you all out, click on the links at the bottom to see an image of why my foot is a bit hurty - that isn't actually me, but this is what I had done.

Non-optional extras, I think I'll send these back to where they came from.

Full luggage, and my pillion passengers, now I just have to find leathers to fit them.

Gravel drive to my mate's house - never got down this on the SV!

Do not open while eating pizza or tomato sauce based pasta dishes...

oohh very nice ..are those aftermarket cans as well..does it sound as fruity as the sv?

I never thought a wet crotch was a consideration when reviewing a bike ( sorry somebody had to say it ;) .. )

Cans are standard as the Vario luggage is designed to fit around them. I've got a Beowulf can on the SV, which is really growly so this bike doesn't sound anywhere near as good. However, Mr LPH's cans on the XJR are so bleedin loud that I'd need Concorde to be heard over his bike!

As for the wet crotch, all I'm saying is don't put your waterproofs in your husband's top box and then when it starts absolutely hammering it down expect him to think to pull over for you to put on your waterproofs if he's already wearing his own! I was waving and indicating and bibbing my horn to no avail. Grrrrrr.

looks good! I'm considering this model and the ever confusing range of the F650/700/800 range where they are all 800cc. Let us know how you get on with it over time

I reckon that`s more the "Joy" of having a new bike

And a Stebel Nautilus fitted to the bike will soon let him know when you need to stop if he can`t hear you :)
