After a long hard slog I have managed to get my hands on some original lowers. I haven't received them as yet, but just checking the fitting. I figure one side bolts onto the exhaust bracket and the other on the left peg??
They come with all bolts and brackets but before I get them I'd prefer to know if there is any sequence to fitting them.
Sorry if it seems a daft question

Ah so you picked up those blue ones on ebay?!

No not those ones Charlie but I did see that listing, the ones I got were on ebay for a day or so but we agreed a price of £60 and he threw in the seat bolts as I lost one of mine a few weeks back. Mate's gonna spray them and I'll bung him £40 so in it for £100. I even contacted sellers with lowers asking if they wanted to sell them!!! No takers.

Ah well done, were they the yellow ones? I offered him £50 :D
Do you mean you just emailed people listing fully faired ones if they wanted to split the lowers?! Looks like my quest might take some time... I've just bought this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300737354903&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:3160#ht_500wt_1012) in the mean time.

Yes, although the lighter yellow and need spraying anyhow, and I did exactly that, contacting sellers with lowers, though ALL said thanks but no thanks, long shot but worth a go. I was amazed I got them for that considering this with NO brackets or bolts etc. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lower-fairings-suzuki-sv650s-L-R-YELLOW-/280897343728?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item4166c950f0#ht_500wt_1413
I have carbon lowers on mine at present, once I get mine sorted I will offer them up on here. I think they are Powerbronze and I was going to them sprayed.
I still have the instructions that came with mine. I can photocopy them tomorrow if that would help?

That's what he said, mixed from a sample and guaranteed match.

If it is a pearl over yellow base then you will never get an exact match because the amount of pearl coat you put on changes the shade/ appearance, same with the blues over silver base, and reds etc. you can mix the paint to match whats on the panel but getting it identical once sprayed. would be NY on impossible
if the guy can supply you with all 3 stages, prep and paint your panels for £40 you're a lucky man!
I would be massively out of pocket!

Rory thanks for the advice. Perhaps he doesn't realise the stages involved, I'll speak with him today and explain what you've said. I gave him the y9f paint code so his suppliers may let him know the score.

He's says he is aware of the paint stages, his charge is £40 + paint, it read wrong. Price for paint from his supplier is £30, also I am going to prep them myself as they need very little work. Only thing missing from them is the rubber fixings to fit the "black pieces" on. Anyone know what they are called and where I can similar from??

I may have the rubber fittings in my spares tub. How many do you need?
I faxed the instruction this afternoon, too.

Rich, thanks for the offer, I only have one so any appreciated, will pm my address.
Rory, I beginning to think he has his sums wrong, I have no idea who he uses, I have seen rs paints now and seen their prices!! No wonder you was shocked at my price.
So how much do you charge for lowers??
sv_rory
12-07-12, 08:24 PM
That's what I mean mate,
If he can do it for £40 then bite his hand off, his loss is your gain! I gather hes not an experienced painter or he would know basics,
remember you have to use thinners, gun-wash, tack rags, degreaser, primer, sand paper, polisher, compound, paint , clear coat the list is endless mate,
for a 3 stage pearl just for the ground coat and pearl over coat your looking around £60 for 1/2 ltr of each !then you've got, primer and clear-coat etc all on top it goes on and on mate

He does alloys, but said he'd do the lowers. If the quotes toooooo much I'll get a couple of aerosols from rs paint and cover the bad bits with stickers lol. Oh well, I wanted some and have got them now. I bought them using money on my paypal A/C that's not missed and it's my birthday this weekend so will put any money towards it. Appreciate your comments, it'll lessen the shock for me when he tells me the true cost lol

I have bought some Powerbronze lowers for my curvy '02 reg bike and they are absolutely sh**e. The first set wouldn't clear the downpipe enough so the plastice started to melt within 30 secs of the engine being on. After sending a shed load of pictures to Powerbronze, they duly sent me another set this time with heat resisting tape on. I resorted to getting these fitted by a biek engineer at a cost, as we still couldn't get enough clearance to be happy. They are on but the clearance is still sh**e. Any one else had any problems with fitting Powerbronze lowers?

Do you have the correct brackets? Have done a quick search on Powerbronze images and mine look like theirs. The brackets are different to the for OEM typical lowers and mine had adequate clearance.

Looking at getting my lowers repainted at the minute and I've also got a mate who says he'll do em for £30 + paint, which I thought was fair enough. Seems the majority of the cost comes from the paint though! I'm not looking for an exact match so I'm just planning on taking the bike down to a paint shop and getting them to match it, as long as it's not too far off then I'm happy.

I took my bike for a match today and the painter said he wasn't happy as they were fractionally lighter but he said another coat will do it. He told me £40+paint which he gets for £15 per tin. I'll ask my guy who he gets his from. His supplier recognised the paint code and supplied a 2 stage paint.

where does he get his paint from?
Rory, just had lowers returned (yes 5 weeks or so later) and the colour is almost identical, his first attempt was light so he went over them again. The company he uses is the link below, I don't think they have a website.
