L plate question

Hi all

Bike's in at the garage and need to pick someone up later, would normally just pick them up on the back of my bike, however can't do that. I'm technically insured to ride her bike TPFT (my policy includes use of other bikes), but she only has a CBT and therefore has L plates. I wouldn't be too bothered if it was just me on my own as the likeliehood is I wouldnt get stopped, but as I'll have a pillion and the bike will have L plates (they take ages to get off), if any police see me I'm guaranteed to get pulled.

I'll be able to produce insurance license etc but am I likely to get done for displaying L plates when im not actually a learner?

No -- you can ride a bike with L plates even if you have a full A category on your licence - Therefore not an issue

i doubt you can get done for displaying L plates when you're not a learner. As long as your insurance allows you to ride someone elses bike, and your insurance & license covers you to ride (with a pillion) then i wouldn't see it being an issue. Make sure her bike is fully legal, as with you being the driver, are responsible for making sure the bike is leagal and road worthy

don.t see a problem. think about it driving instructors ride/drive with L plates on all the time. however you might get pulled.

the easiest way is to get some gaffer tape or electrical tape and put some across it

No offences to have them as a full licence holder.

As said if you dont want to take them off put some black tape across them. Might save you 10 mins in the long run.

Just put some tape or a bag over it. My wife was riding her DT125R with me on the back and a copper asked to see her licence. I also got pulled with someone on the back of my TS125R for the same reason. Small bike, young rider and pillion Wiped the smug grin off his face when he saw my full licence!

Mate of mine gets stopped all the time for not having L plates on his 50cc moped.

He only uses it as a run about town and has a full licence but the police do love to look for irregularities.

Yea I own a ped as well and get pulled a lot.
Now I just get my licence out whilst they walk over.
