View Full Version : Mystery Tour Sunday 22nd July
Start Time :- 09:00 for 09:30 departure Sunday 22nd
Start Location :- Oatsheaf Pub Fleet
Destination :- Unknown. Possibly Salisbury/Devizes, possibly south as normal
Route :- To be developed en-route but will include some twiddly bits, some swoopy bits and some layby bits so I can twiddle my rear shock from time to time. No plans to include any motorways or major dual carriage ways or any of Cornwall.
Distance :- To be determined at the end of the ride
End time :- Start time + (distance/average speed) + stops or there abouts but probably early afternoonish + VAT
Riding style :- I'll ride like I do, you ride like you do. If you come past me then consider yourself run-leader. If you want to ride slower we'll make sure junctions are marked. If you want to ride like a complete tit, please find another ride to join.
Catering :- Hopefully find tea/bacon butty at some point but no promises.
Fuel stops :- at least every 100 miles else you help me push
Luggage :- You'll need topbox, panniers, a tankbag, rucksac, trailer and support vehicle at the very least.
Democracy :- If you want to start later or from somewhere else .... Tough!
If the forecast is to be believed it should be a nice weekend. If however it's chucking it down or threatening to do so then I declare myself a big girls blouse and pass control over to the much tougher Mr.Ace.
I'll post final confirmation Saturday evening when I get back from the seaside with the family.
Intended Attendance :-
1. Mark H

I'm in, due to thunder aces urging (I think he Has an ulterior motive an just wants to make me cry), but would be handy if I could meet you en route somewhat south of fleet?
Do you have any idea of the first few miles of route? If its a problem I will hack all the way up there but the M3 is so boring.

We'll wait for Mark to jump on later as he knows the roads best:notworthy:, but my suggestions for a meet are Alton Station Cafe or the illustrious Loomies! As they're both about half way between you and us.;)

Alton station would be fine, loomies might be a bit out of your way.

I will try and make it along as the Thames valley boys are all on night shifts.
No idea how to get to the pub but I will hopefully be there by 9.30

Right then Boys.
Back from the seaside with brownie point bank topped up so all systems go!
09:00 for 09:30 departure at Oatsheaf =
Mark H Silver SV1000
ThunderAce Red and White Thunderace + mate Speed triple
Tomor Shiny yellow SV650
Sandman Black and white Blade
Then off to Alton Station by the cafe 10:00 to collect
Spank86 Guessing another Speed Triple going by picture.
Then off into the randomness of a mystery ride.
Just to set some expectations I'm in the process of ruining my suspension so this may be a little less progressive than previous rides but I'll do my best.
If anyone has bike to bike radios bring it along as it may help if we get split up on any of the trickier bits.
If anyone else is planning on coming be at one of the above venues at the time listed.
See ya;

10 at Alton sounds brilliant, gives me another half hour in bed.
And it's a speed four on the floor mark.
No oil anymore I hope, new gaskets seen to that.

You missed some superb roads.
I haven't had that much fun since... Well I can't remember the last time it wasn't raining!
I do like down that way for riding, i'm trying to get to know some new roads and explore the SE a bit more.

Just want to say what a good day.
Nice twisty's with some good straight bits
Even though the way back was a bit dull the top gear esq ****ing about in the tunnel certainly made up for it
Have to pop down that way again for a ride out
Nice to meet you all today
Jerry
Sandman, it maybe conincedence how ever i think i may have seen you this afternoon. Did you ride back via the A331/The meadows about 2pm this afternoon? Was a white/black 'blade and similar leathers to your picture?
sandman
22-07-12, 08:43 PM
Yeah
That was me
What were you riding?
I thought it may have been! nothing at that time, i was in the car heading down towards Sainsburys. where abouts do you reside, localish?
sandman
22-07-12, 08:48 PM
about an hour from there
High Wycombe
Nice ride back though
not far at all then, should come out on a ride with us some time. Do you go to H's Cafe (i think that's the name) Mondya night meets?
sandman
22-07-12, 08:56 PM
Don't normally go to H's cafe
More of an Ace cafe Friday night person myself
Next time you are going let me know it is only an hour from mine
Me neither, never been to one, simply know they exist
Never been to Ace Cafe for a bike night meet, what time do you usually head down there on a Friday?
sandman
22-07-12, 09:08 PM
About 8ish
On performance and fast bike night there is usually someone messing about in the road
Look at plently of nice bikes and get a tea or coffee
sometimes go on up to the soho meet too
i may join you this Friday if you are heading up. I work till 6 and is about an hour for me from Sandhurst to High Wycombe
Thanks for a great ride out folks. Hope it was mysterious enough; the bit before Hayling was mysterious even to me.
I'm currently searching ebay for a restrictor kit so I can make mine go as fast as some others on the ride!
