Every year there's a meet up somewhere in Europe for us boring old Deauville owners, this year it was in the Ardeche. Just got back, cracking ride out.
Here's just a couple of fragrant nosegays to whet the appetite. Visited the Cirque de Navacelles (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cirque_de_Navacelles), a stonking big hole in the ground. Also managed at last to visit Mont Ventoux (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Ventoux), a favourite climb of the Tour de France.
Gorges d'Ardeche and Tarn, plus the Millau viaduc to boot.
Sorry it wasn't on the SV, but that's what the Deau is for.

Fantastic.

That big hole is going on the list!

Last time i was heading home that way (Millau) I had to stick to the motorway. Trying not look at my map at all the tasty treats off to the left and right of me. :(

I tell you what, a day tour going down the Tarn gorge, across the Millau viaduc, then off to Navacelles would be pretty much unbeatable in the right weather.

The small road from the autoroute up to Navacelles has just been resurfaced for quite a bit and is a gem, and absolutely no traffic whatsoever, none, when we were there a couple of weeks ago. Bliss.

You know you want to ;)

If you like big holes, there is a nice blue one off Belize. Not ideal conditions for an SV tho (or come to think of it, any bike).

I went up that road to Navacelles last year before it was resurfaced - should have had nobbly tyres on my SV! It was a good few miles of gravel IIRC.

I thought the ride from the autoroute upto Navacelles was like something out of a spagetti western - magnificent!! No other vehicles and almost desert like.

Think I might be passing it again in a few weeks so will go again as it was cracking.
